Job summary

Orange Grove Center in Chattanooga, TN is seeking a Bus Driver to operate school bus routes safely, maintain cleanliness, and perform pre/post trip inspections.

The role requires a High School diploma or GED, 25+ years of age, 5 years driving with a valid license, and a CDL with P/S endorsements. Experience with individuals with disabilities is a plus. Trainee pay starts at $17.50/hour, rising to $19.50/hour after training.

Qualifications

• Education: High School diploma or GED required.
• Must be 25 years of age and have not less than five years driving experience with valid, unrestricted operator’s license.
• Must possess a Commercial Driver’s License with P and S endorsements.
• Must have an excellent driving record.
• Experience working with adults and children with intellectual and physical disabilities would be helpful.
• Must have basic writing and record keeping skills.
• Newly hired driver who must earn CDL and/or appropriate endorsements must complete ELDT and acquire CDL license before the expiration of his/her 90 day probationary period unless special circumstances necessitate that this probationary period be extended and approval for this extension is given by Transportation Coordinator and Division Director.
• The driver will not earn school bus driver pay ($19.50/hour) until all training is successfully completed (Trainee pay is $17.50/hour).

Responsibilities

• Operate bus route in a safe, organized, punctual manner.
• Perform pre-trip inspection before each trip and post trip inspection at end of trip.
• Care for and maintain cleanliness of vehicle.
• Effectively manage passenger behaviors per Behavior Support Plan or ISP/IEP.
• Attend state mandated driver training annually and other required in-services.
• Maintain all required records and reports for the agency.
• Interact professionally with caregivers, staff, and the public in a multicultural/multiracial community.
