The City of Bryan is hiring for a full-time Solid Waste Operator to operate large sanitation trucks and related heavy equipment on residential and commercial routes. Work hours are typically Monday–Friday, 7am–3pm, with a focus on safe operation, proper waste handling, and on-time collection.

You will perform daily vehicle inspections, support brush/bulky waste tasks when needed, and interact with residents to explain disposal policies and address concerns.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Three (3) years of work experience, preferably driving a large vehicle or heavy equipment.
• Equivalent combinations of education, experience, certification, and training may be considered.

Responsabilités

• Operates a large mechanized sanitation truck and/or other heavy equipment on assigned routes.
• Judges proper positioning and alignment of the truck; operates controls for lift, bucket rotation, and grapple to collect waste.
• Loads brush and bulky waste into rear-loading trucks or other equipment used for green waste management.
• Collects litter from roadways and educates residents on disposal policies as needed.
• Performs daily vehicle inspection and completes route sheets; ensures vehicle maintenance and fuel.
• Responds to customer concerns and communicates city ordinances to educate on proper disposal procedures.
