GFL Environmental Inc. in Newport, RI is seeking a CDL Residential Driver to join our frontline team. You will operate side-load or rear-load trucks to collect solid waste and recyclables along assigned residential routes, delivering safe, courteous service to the community.

The Role

As a CDL Residential Driver, you are the face of GFL on the front lines! You’ll be operating side-load or rear-load trucks to collect solid waste and recyclables along assigned residential routes. This is a dynamic, active, hands-on driving position where safety, customer service, and efficiency come together.

What You’ll Do:

• Drive & Collect: Safely navigate residential routes, operating side-load and rear-load trucks, hydraulic systems, and trash compaction equipment.

• Master the Route: Efficiently collect curbside waste, yard waste, and recyclables while maintaining neighborhood route quality standards.

• Safety First: Perform pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections daily, report mechanical issues promptly, and follow all safety protocols.

• Customer Champion: Deliver courteous, professional service to the community and help tag or identify prohibited waste items when necessary.

• Team Leadership: Manage route helpers (when applicable) and work closely with supervisors to continuously improve route efficiency.

What You Bring

• Driver’s License: Valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) required.

• Experience: Minimum 1 year of commercial driving experience OR a completed CDL school certificate.

• Physical Capability: Ability to lift up to 25-50 lbs regularly (and occasionally up to 100 lbs), maneuver in and out of minimum clearance spaces, and work outdoors in all weather conditions.

• Mindset: Strong safety focus, dependable work ethic, and a positive, team-oriented attitude.
