Job summary

The Orangeburg Maintenance Unit of the South Carolina Department of Transportation seeks a skilled worker to assemble, install, and maintain signs, ensuring correct height, distance, and mounting on posts for road safety.

Qualifications

• Six months of related work experience or equivalent.
• A valid motor vehicle operator’s license is required.
• Requires attainment of a Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) within six months of placement in the position.

Responsibilities

• Assemble, install, and maintain signs to ensure proper mounting on posts and correct height and distance as required by the Sign Manual.
• Maintain an inventory and order signs used for maintenance and construction projects.
• Complete paperwork for accurate records, including daily, weekly, and monthly reports.
• Assist during inclement weather and after-hour emergencies; may work extended 12-hour shifts.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
