Job summary

The City of Wellington is seeking a reliable refuse collection driver to operate a refuse collection truck and work as a team member on collection routes. You will drive, load, and ensure safe, efficient service for residents.

You will perform routine maintenance, maintain records, follow safety policies, and communicate with the public to resolve collection issues, while upholding city policies and state regulations. This role requires a valid Kansas CDL.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Six months of related experience.
• Valid Kansas Commercial Driver’s License.

Responsibilities

• Oversees truck crew in safe operation of equipment and safe task performance.
• Drives a refuse collection truck and loads refuse.
• Maintains truck and equipment in proper working condition.
• Performs routine maintenance on truck, equipment, storage building and grounds.
• Follows up on complaints as directed.
• Advises customers of collection problems.
• Keeps collection records as required.
• Checks truck crew time cards.
• Enforces and maintains compliance with all federal, state and local laws and ordinances.
• Performs other duties as assigned or deemed necessary.
• Complies with all organizational and departmental policies and procedures.
• Operates all job-related equipment, machinery, tools and other aids as required or needed.
• Protects and maintains confidential information.
