Job summary

Rumpke of Ohio, Inc. is seeking a Class B CDL route driver to provide safe, efficient trash and recycling pickup across assigned routes in Ohio. You will routinely enter and exit the truck, operate with attention to road safety, and interact with customers in a professional manner.

Qualifications include a valid Class B CDL, a DOT medical card, being at least 19, and the ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays as needed. Equal opportunity employer.

Qualifications

• Must have at least a valid Class B CDL.
• Must have a valid DOT Medical Card.
• Must be at least 19 years of age.
• No more than 3 moving violations within the last 2 years.
• No DUI/OUI within the last 5 years or 2 in the last 10 years.
• May travel between offices as required.
• Flexible hours; nights and weekends may be required.
• Overtime, weekends, and/or holidays may be required.
• Legally eligible to work in the United States.
• Valid driver's license (if applicable).
• Must read and speak English.

Responsibilities

• Provide trash or recycling removal services to customers, safely and compliantly, by emptying containers into the truck.
• Routinely enter/exit the truck 300-500 times per day depending on route.
• Possibly pull/push containers from enclosures or inside buildings.
• Replace trash/recycling receptacles at curb or designated area.
• Clean up waste spills and overflows.
• Maintain and update route and driver logs.
• Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections and complete logs.
• Interact with customers professionally and provide quality service.
• Clean waste from the packer blade and truck body; keep cab clean.
• Deliver containers as needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Responsibilities of Position:

• Provide trash or recycling removal services to customers, in a safe and compliant way, by emptying trash/recycling containers into truck and hauling to disposal site
• Routinely enter/exit the truck approximately 300-500 times per day, depending on the assigned route
• May be required to pull or push containers from enclosures or inside buildings
• Replace trash/recycling receptacles neatly at the curb or designated area
• Clean up waste spills and overflows
• Maintain and update route & driver log sheets
• Conduct pre-trip/post trip inspections and complete logs
• Professionally interact with internal and external customers, providing excellent customer service
• Clean waste from the packer blade and truck body and ensure cleanliness of truck cab
• Deliver trash or recycling containers as needed
• Perform other duties as assigned

Supervisory Responsibility:

• This position will not manage employees

Skills & Abilities Needed for Position:

• Ability to read and understand a map
• Ability to enter/exit the truck approximately 300-500 times per day
• Excellent truck driving/maneuvering skills
• General knowledge of truck mechanics
• Good written and verbal communication skills to be able to communicate effectively and professionally with internal and external customers

Experience & Knowledge Needed for Position:

• Waste industry experience, a plus

Physical Requirements in a Regular Workday:

• Continuously pushing/pulling a max of 75 lbs
• Frequently lifting/carrying a max of 75 lbs
• Rarely lifting/carrying/pushing/pulling a max of 100 lbs
• Continuously working outside in changing temperatures, wet/humid conditions
• Continuously working in areas of dust, odors, mist, gases, and other airborne matter
• Frequently stooping/kneeling/crouching/crawling
• Frequently climbing and/or balancing
• Frequently sitting/standing/walking

Additional Working Conditions/Aspects:

• Must have at least a valid Class B CDL
• Must have a valid DOT Medical Card or able to obtain prior to hire
• Must be at least 19 years of age
• No more than 3 moving violations within the last 2 years
• Must not have any DUI's or OVI's within the last 5 years or 2 in the last 10 years
• Possible exposure to high traffic conditions and/or tight driving areas
• Exposure to residential and commercial waste
• Ability to travel between offices, as required
• Ability to work flexible hours; expected to work nights and weekends as needed
• Ability to work overtime, weekends, and/or holidays
• Legally eligible to work in the United States
• Valid driver's license (if applicable)
• Must successfully complete pre-employment testing
• Must be able to read and speak the English language
