Job summary

Rumpke Waste & Recycling is seeking a Residential Rear Load Driver to service customer trash and recycling routes, loading and hauling to disposal sites. You will perform pre- and post-trip inspections, maintain logs, and interact professionally with customers to ensure high service standards.

The role requires a valid Class B CDL and DOT medical card, physical ability to push/pull loads, and willingness to work nights and weekends as needed.

Qualifications

• General knowledge of truck mechanics.
• Good written and verbal communication with customers.

Responsibilities

• Provide trash or recycling removal services to customers, safely and compliantly by emptying containers into the truck and hauling to disposal sites.
• Routinely enter/exit the truck 300–500 times per day depending on route.
• May need to pull/push containers from enclosures or buildings.
• Replace receptacles neatly at curb or designated areas.
• Clean spills and maintain truck cleanliness and logs.
• Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections and update logs.
• Interact professionally with customers and internal teams.
• Deliver containers as needed and support route updates.

Residential Rear Load Drivers are responsible for servicing customers with the collection and hauling of waste or recycling materials to a disposal site or recycling plant. This position operates various types of trucks. Drivers will service many different routes in various areas.

Responsibilities Of Position

• Provide trash or recycling removal services to customers, in a safe and compliant way, by emptying trash/recycling containers into truck and hauling to disposal site
• Routinely enter/exit the truck approximately 300-500 times per day, depending on the assigned route
• May be required to pull or push containers from enclosures or inside buildings
• Replace trash/recycling receptacles neatly at the curb or designated area
• Clean up waste spills and overflows
• Maintain and update route & driver log sheets
• Conduct pre-trip/post trip inspections and complete logs
• Professionally interact with internal and external customers, providing excellent customer service
• Clean waste from the packer blade and truck body and ensure cleanliness of truck cab
• Deliver trash or recycling containers as needed
• Perform other duties as assigned

• This position will not manage employees

• Good written and verbal communication skills to be able to communicate effectively and professionally with internal and external customers

Experience & Knowledge Needed For Position

• Waste industry experience, a plus

Physical Requirements In a Regular Workday

• Continuously pushing/pulling a max of 75 lbs
• Frequently lifting/carrying a max of 75 lbs
• Rarely lifting/carrying/pushing/pulling a max of 100 lbs
• Continuously working outside in changing temperatures, wet/humid conditions
• Continuously working in areas of dust, odors, mist, gases, and other airborne matter
• Frequently stooping/kneeling/crouching/crawling
• Frequently climbing and/or balancing
• Frequently sitting/standing/walking

Additional Working Conditions/Aspects

• Must have at least a valid Class B CDL
• Must have a valid DOT Medical Card or able to obtain prior to hire
• Must be at least 19 years of age
• No more than 3 moving violations within the last 2 years
• Must not have any DUI's or OVI's within the last 5 years or 2 in the last 10 years
• Possible exposure to high traffic conditions and/or tight driving areas
• Exposure to residential and commercial waste
• Ability to travel between offices, as required
• Ability to work flexible hours; expected to work nights and weekends as needed
• Ability to work overtime, weekends, and/or holidays
• Legally eligible to work in the United States
• Valid driver's license (if applicable)
• Must successfully complete pre-employment testing
• Must be able to read and speak the English language
