Job summary

Rumpke Waste & Recycling is hiring Rear Load Truck Drivers in Kentucky. You will service trash and recycling routes, load containers, and maintain logs while delivering safe, reliable service to customers.

Requirements include a valid Class B CDL, a DOT medical card, minimum 19 years old and a clean driving record. Expect nights, weekends, and overtime as needed. Competitive benefits accompany this essential role.

Qualifications

• Must have a valid Class B CDL.
• Must have a valid DOT Medical Card or able to obtain prior to hire.
• Must be at least 19 years of age.
• No more than 3 moving violations within the last 2 years.
• No DUI/OVI within the last 5 years or 2 in the last 10 years.
• Legally eligible to work in the United States.

Responsibilities

• Provide trash or recycling removal services to customers, safely and compliantly.
• Enter/exit the truck 300-600 times per day, depending on route.
• Move containers from enclosures or buildings as needed.
• Replace receptacles at curb or designated area.
• Clean spills and maintain truck cleanliness.
• Update route and driver log sheets; perform pre/post inspections.
• Interact professionally with customers; deliver good service.
• Operate truck and other vehicles as needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Rear Load Truck Drivers are responsible for servicing customers with the collection and hauling of waste or recycling materials to a disposal site or recycling plant. Rear Load Truck Drivers will service many different routes in various areas.

Responsibilities Of Position

• Provide trash or recycling removal services to customers, in a safe and compliant way, by emptying trash/recycling containers into truck and hauling to disposal site
• Routinely enter/exit the truck approximately 300-600 times per day, depending on the assigned route
• Pull or push containers from enclosures or inside buildings as needed
• Replace trash/recycling receptacles neatly at the curb or designated area
• Clean up waste spills and overflows
• Maintain and update route & driver log sheets
• Conduct pre-trip/post trip inspections and complete logs
• Professionally interact with internal and external customers, providing excellent customer service
• Clean waste from the packer blade and truck body and ensure cleanliness of truck cab
• Deliver trash or recycling containers as needed
• Manually load bulk items as needed
• Maintain cleanliness of assigned truck
• Operate other types of trucks as needed
• Perform other duties as assigned

Supervisory Responsibility

• This position will not manage employees

Skills & Abilities Needed For Position

• Ability to read and understand a map
• Good written and verbal communication skills to be able to communicate effectively and professionally with internal and external customers
• Excellent truck driving/maneuvering skills
• Ability to drive while pulling a trailer
• Must be able to read and speak the English language well enough to communicate, understand, and respond to questions, directions, traffic signs, signals, and safety training

Experience & Knowledge Needed For Position

• General knowledge of truck mechanics preferred
• 1-2 years CDL truck driving experience preferred
• Waste industry experience preferred

Physical Requirements In a Regular Workday

• Frequently lifting/carrying/pushing/pulling a max of 75 lbs
• Rarely lifting/carrying/pushing/pulling a max of 100 lbs
• Continuously working outside in changing temperatures, wet/humid conditions
• Continuously working in areas of dust, odors, mist, gases, and other airborne matter
• Frequently stooping/kneeling/crouching/crawling
• Frequently climbing and/or balancing
• Frequently sitting/standing/walking

Additional Working Conditions/Aspects

• Must have at least a valid Class B CDL
• Must have a valid DOT Medical Card or able to obtain prior to hire
• Must have a at least 19 years of age
• No more than 3 moving violations within the last 2 years
• Must not have any DUI's or OVI's within the last 5 years or 2 in the last 10 years
• Possible exposure to high traffic conditions and/or tight driving areas
• Exposure to residential and commercial waste
• Ability to travel between offices, as required
• Ability to work flexible hours; expected to work nights and weekends as needed
• Ability to work overtime, weekends, and/or holidays
• Legally eligible to work in the United States
• Valid driver’s license (if applicable)
• Must successfully complete pre-employment testing
• Must be able to read and speak the English language
