Job summary

Republic Services is seeking a Driver Trainee in the United States. The program trains candidates to obtain a CDL and then advances them to a Driver position across Residential, Commercial, Industrial, or Roll-Off lines.

The role emphasizes safety, inspection, and customer service as you progress to full CDL status. Successful trainees will participate in a comprehensive training program, including classroom and on-road experience, with access to a truck during training.

Qualifications

• No prohibitions to acquiring a commercial drivers’ license.

Responsibilities

• Complete CDL training program and pass the state CDL examination.
• Complete twelve months of employment after obtaining a CDL.
• Learn to perform pre- and post-operation inspections of the vehicle.
• Report any safety issues on standard reports.
• Learn to safely operate a heavy or commercial truck along a designated route and service each customer.
• Learn to operate manual and/or automatic controls in accordance with safety policies.
• Identify unsatisfactory waste containers and tag containers as required.
• Monitor waste for unacceptable materials.
• Maintain vehicle readiness and clean the packer blade and truck body on disposal trips.
• Follow all required safety policies and procedures.
• After CDL, perform Driver duties in Residential, Commercial, Industrial or Roll-Off lines.
• Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
