Job summary

  • Maintains training budget and tracks all expenditures.
  • Assists with snow and ice removal during seasonal events.
  • Completes related administrative tasks.
  • Performs related work as assigned

Job description

  • The minimum salary is $68,985.28 annually.
  • This position is not eligible for overtime (exempt); however, the city has a compensatory time leave program for employees that grants leave time for hours worked in excess of 40 hours.
  • Pay Grade 524

GENERAL DESCRIPTION

The purpose of this classification is to administer a comprehensive Commercial Driver's License (CDL) training program for employees to safely operate multiple pieces of equipment in accordance with the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
  • Bachelor's degree in a field related to the job
  • Six years of related experience, two of which must be as a classroom instructor
  • Additional years of related experience may substitute for years of education
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Collaborates and coordinates the planning, implementation and evaluation of CDL training
  • Conducts on-site training to include pre-trip vehicle inspections, course hours and on-road instruction
  • Creates and administers comprehensive instructional coursework and presentations
  • Maintains accurate reporting of training hours and license status
  • Communicates with state and local agencies to determine and meet licensing requirements
  • Maintains training budget and tracks all expenditures
  • Assists with snow and ice removal during seasonal events
  • Completes related administrative tasks
  • Performs related work as assigned
SPECIAL LICENSE/CERTIFICATION

All certifications and licenses must be maintained as a condition of employment.

  • Valid Kentucky Commercial Driver's License (CDL) Class A and a valid Department of Transportation (DOT) Medical Examiner's Certificate
  • May be required to obtain additional certifications for various equipment
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Must be available for on-call duty and be able to work weekends and holidays as assigned and during emergencies.
  • Positions are required to perform snow removal duties during weather emergencies.
  • Must be able to operate Urban County Government equipment and vehicles in a safe, prudent and responsible manner.
  • All positions require drug testing and a background check before employment and may require a post-job offer physical as stated in Ordinances 21-14(b), 22-13 and 23-16.
