Job summary

Cooper Steel in Shelbyville, TN is seeking a Material Handler to move material around the yard safely using overhead cranes, forklifts, and tractor trailer transfers. You will read load lists, perform rigging, and help maintain a strong safety and quality culture.

A High School Diploma and a valid Class A CDL are required. Responsibilities include loading/unloading, equipment inspection, and supporting yard operations while complying with safety standards.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Prior experience in a similar role preferred.
• Valid Class A CDL required.

Responsibilities

• Promote a strong quality culture throughout the company maintaining Cooper Steel's core priorities: Safety, Quality, Production.
• Load and unload delivery trucks using overhead cranes and forklifts.
• Read and understand load list to calculate material size and length when loading.
• Understand units of measure, general mathematical equations.
• Operate equipment / machinery and perform other job duties necessary within the shop and yard.
• Transport materials using tractor trailer trucks.
• Inspect tools and equipment daily before use and maintain in good working order.
• Other duties as assigned.
