Job Summary:

All drivers run daily routes with frequent stops and are required to load packages onto hand trucks and unload product at each stop on the assigned route in the order designated by the Transportation Department Manager. The candidate will operate successfully in a cross-dock model, picking up a loaded truck from a nightly delivery at the assigned loading dock and returning the empty truck back to the lot at the end of the route. May be required to assist with loading trucks, palletizing product, and other duties as assigned by Supervisor or Manager.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Deliver products efficiently, meeting or exceeding designated route times.
• Unload product from trailer, using hands or a hand cart, and place in designated storage areas. This may involve transporting product down ramps, stairs, or docks, in all weather conditions.
• Frequently lift, push, or move products weighing 1-75 pounds, up to 100 pounds; reach up to 72” to stack and unstack pallets; bend and twist while loading and unloading.
• Verify delivery with customers and obtain signatures. Communicate any discrepancies or errors to management.
• Handle customer complaints professionally and courteously.
• Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections following DOT regulations and company policies.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education: High School diploma or GED.

Experience: One-year route delivery experience or relevant driving background with a straight truck; valid Commercial Driver’s License – Class B (Class A preferred); ability to read and understand English.

Skills: Ability to operate vehicle in various traffic and weather conditions; strong customer service skills; effective planning and organization; good communication; ability to handle physical demands including lifting up to 80 lbs; ability to work independently.

OTHER INFORMATION

• Frequent lifting of products up to 50 lbs., occasional lifting to 80 lbs.
• Must be able to climb on and off the truck and work in confined spaces.
