Job summary

Washtenaw County Road Commission is seeking a Heavy Truck Driver to operate heavy-duty trucks and equipment for road maintenance and repair along trunkline and local roads. Candidate will perform manual labor, assist with traffic control, and ensure safe operation of vehicles and tools on job sites.

The role requires a valid Michigan Class A CDL, high school diploma or equivalent, and a willingness to be on-call 24/7 due to weather conditions. Competitive benefits and schedules apply.

Qualifications

• 1 year of experience in highway maintenance, construction, farming, forestry, landscaping or any labor-intensive work involving machinery, tools and equipment.
• Valid Michigan Class A CDL is required.
• Must be available for on-call shifts and respond within one hour.

Responsibilities

• Operate heavy-duty dump trucks with snowplows, sand and salt spreaders, and related equipment to maintain roadways.
• Perform manual labor including digging, culverts, debris removal and loading materials.
• Regulate traffic around crews and set up signs, cones and barricades at work sites.
• Haul materials and equipment, including asphalt, rock and culverts, and transport road maintenance supplies.
• Inspect vehicles, perform minor maintenance, and keep equipment clean.
