CDL Guardrail & Highway Maintenance Technician

Full-time position.

DCSAM is a family-owned and operated business that values treating employees like family. We provide innovative, safe, and high-quality infrastructure/maintenance contracting services to State DOTs, railroads, and other commercial/residential customers across the United States.

We are looking for a Highway Maintenance Technician/Guardrail Installer to perform various highway maintenance tasks and other related duties under close supervision. The candidate will be trained in routine highway/roadway maintenance while adhering to all relevant federal, state, and local regulations, as well as company policies, procedures, and safety guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Interpret plans and schematics.
• Install and set up Highway Guardrail layouts.
• Handle and place materials for guardrail installation.
• Load and unload materials on flat-bed trucks or trailers manually, dig holes, and use power tools.
• Operate the Post Pounder/Driver Truck.
• Operate equipment used for Highway Maintenance.
• Utilize hand tools such as shovels, rakes, and brooms.
• Use power tools like chainsaws, pole saws, weed eaters, and backpack blowers.
• Work in various weather conditions.
• Lift moderately heavy objects.
• Provide physical endurance to bend, climb, stand, stoop, or walk for extended periods.
• Maintain strong eye-hand coordination.
• Adapt to changes in work plans and schedules based on workload or seasonal requirements.
• Demonstrate a high work ethic and commitment to the job.
• Perform essential roadway maintenance duties as required.

Qualifications

Education:

• High School Diploma or Equivalent.

Experience and Certification:

• Class A or B CDL (required).
• At least 18 years of age or older.
• Valid Virginia driver’s license with at least 3 years of clean driving record.
• Training and/or experience in maintenance of roadway activities.
• Construction background or experience.
• Heavy labor experience is a plus.
• Available to work night shift from 7 PM to 5 AM.
