Job summary

Rumpke is hiring a Front Load Driver to serve commercial customers on assigned routes, hauling waste and recycling to disposal sites. You will dump containers, perform route logs, and interact with customers while maintaining safety and truck cleanliness.

Requirements include a valid Class B CDL, DOT medical card, and legal work eligibility in the United States. This role may require night and weekend shifts and travel between offices as needed.

Qualifications

• Must have a valid Class B CDL.
• DOT Medical Card required or able to obtain prior to hire.
• At least 19 years old.
• No major moving violations within the last 2 years.
• Must be legally eligible to work in the United States.
• English language proficiency is required.

Responsibilities

• Operate front-load trucks on assigned routes to collect waste and recycling.
• Dump front-load containers into trucks and secure loads safely.
• Perform daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections and maintain logs.
• Interact professionally with customers and coworkers.
• Follow safety policies and proper Lock Out/Tag Out procedures.
• Maintain truck cleanliness and route accuracy; update logs as needed.
• Work nights and weekends as required.

Front Load Drivers are responsible for servicing commercial customers on an assigned route(s) with the collection and hauling of waste or recycling materials to a disposal site or recycling plant. Drivers will dump front-load containers utilizing the forks of the truck but may be required to pull or push containers from enclosures or inside buildings.

Responsibilities of Position:

• Operate trucks in a safe manner to provide trash or recycling removal services to customers on assigned route(s) and/or work orders by emptying trash/recycling containers into trucks and hauling them to a disposal site
• Routinely enter/exit the truck approximately 100–150 times per day, depending on the assigned route
• Open and secure service gates while servicing customers
• Pull or push containers from enclosures or inside buildings as needed
• Maintain and update route & driver log sheets
• Conduct daily pre-trip/post-trip inspections and complete DVIR logs
• Professionally interact with internal and external customers, providing excellent customer service
• Maintain cleanliness of assigned truck
• Visually inspect front load containers to ensure safe dumping procedures
• Clean up areas located around containers when servicing customers as needed
• Clean waste from the packer blade and truck body while following proper Lock Out/Tag Out procedures
• Perform other duties as assigned

Supervisory Responsibility:

• This position will not manage employees

Skills & Abilities Needed for Position:

• Ability to read and understand a map and/or navigation system
• Good written and verbal communication skills to be able to communicate effectively and professionally with internal and external customers
• Must be able to read and speak the English language well enough to communicate, understand, and respond to questions, directions, traffic signs, signals, and safety training

Experience & Knowledge Needed for Position:

• General knowledge of truck mechanics preferred
• 1-2 years CDL truck driving experience preferred
• Previous Front Load truck driving experience preferred

Physical Requirements in a Regular Workday:

• Occasionally lifting/carrying a max of 50 lbs; rarely up to 100 lbs
• Frequently pushing/pulling a max of 50 lbs; occasionally up to 100 lbs
• Continuously working outside in changing temperatures, wet/humid conditions
• Continuously working in areas of dust, odors, mist, gases, and other airborne matter
• Frequently stooping/kneeling/crouching/crawling
• Frequently climbing and/or balancing
• Frequently sitting/standing/walking

Additional Working Conditions/Aspects:

• Must have at least a valid Class B CDL
• Must have a valid DOT Medical Card or able to obtain prior to hire
• Must be at least 19 years of age
• No more than 3 moving violations within the last 2 years
• Must not have any DUI's or OVI's within the last 5 years or 2 in the last 10 years
• Possible exposure to high traffic conditions and/or tight driving areas
• Exposure to residential and commercial waste
• Ability to travel between offices, as required
• Ability to workflexible hours; expected to work nights and weekends as needed
• Ability to work overtime, weekends, and/or holidays
• Legally eligible to work in the United States
• Valid driver’s license (if applicable)
• Must successfully complete pre-employment testing
• Must be able to read and speak the English language
