Job summary

Qualifications

• A valid CDL Class A Commercial Driver’s License with all required endorsements.
• Clean driving record with no moving violations in the past 3 years and a minimum of 3 years of over‑the‑road or local driving experience (or other criteria acceptable to the Company).
• Ability to pass and continuously maintain a U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) physical, DOT drug screen and hair follicle test (HFT), and agreement to post‑accident, random and suspicion‑based drug testing.
• Current possession of or ability to obtain all required local, state and federal approvals to be certified as a CDL Examiner.
• High school diploma, GED, or higher, and effective verbal, non‑verbal and written communication skills.
• Physical, intellectual and leadership ability to perform the duties outlined in this description.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Administer CDL examinations in accordance with local, state and federal regulations, Company policies and procedures, and the policies and procedures established by the Company.
• Ensure the safe driving and operation of testing vehicles and equipment during exams, taking over control of the vehicle if it is being driven in an unsafe manner to prevent an accident.
• Maintain the reliability and integrity of the CDL exams, including pre‑trip inspection, basic skills, and over‑the‑road skills, as well as the security and integrity of all testing materials and manuals.
• Immediately report any testing discrepancies or inaccuracies to the employee’s immediate supervisor.
• Attend all CDL refresher classes and stay conversant with updates in testing procedures.
• Demonstrate a high ethical standard, treating all Company associates, students, test subjects and third parties with dignity, respect and professionalism at all times.
• Adhere to all policies and procedures established by the state monitor and the third‑party exam facility.
• Submit complete, correct and timely test evaluations, forms and required reports associated with CDL third‑party testing.
• Wear an appropriate uniform and maintain neatness and cleanliness while on duty.
• Ensure testing equipment is always properly maintained.
• Assist with the training department when available, in accordance with applicable regulations, and never administer a CDL exam to an individual who has received training.
• Maintain regular, reliable and predictable work attendance.
• Perform any other duties and responsibilities assigned by Company Management.
