Job summary

Bay West Llc is seeking a CDL Equipment Operator II to join our refinery support team in Saint Paul, MN. You will operate vacuum and other equipment, perform routine maintenance, and assist with hazardous waste cleanup while ensuring safety and DOT/OSHA compliance.

The role requires field work across active job sites, strong teamwork, and flexibility for on-call Emergency Response duties. CDL A/B with endorsements preferred and related experience encouraged.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED or 10 years related experience.
• Valid Commercial Driver's License Class B or A.
• Tanker and HAZMAT endorsements helpful, but provided to the right candidate.
• Active 40-hour HAZWOPER certificate helpful, but provided to the right candidate.
• TWIC card helpful, but provided to the right candidate.
• Basic computer skills (MS Office, email).
• Ability to travel as needed.
• Possess or have access to reliable means of transportation on a 24-hour basis.

Responsibilities

• Travel to job sites and operate vacuum trucks, roll off trucks and other company equipment and vehicles.
• Safely operate specialized industrial equipment including liquid vacuum trucks, guzzlers, hydro excavators, liquid ring units, and combo trucks.
• Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections and report deficiencies daily.
• Carry out routine equipment maintenance and housekeeping; report needs.
• Label and manifest shipments in accordance with DOT regulations and policies.
• Interact with customers and provide superior customer service during all activities.
• Maintain all required DOT/OSHA safety certifications and programs.
• Keep equipment in excellent condition and ready for use.
• Attend pre-job safety meetings; follow JSAs; comply with site safety rules.
• Assist field crews with project setup, execution, and equipment breakdown.
• Perform other tasks to support and improve team operations.
• Operate and troubleshoot routinely used tools and equipment.
• Conduct hazardous waste operations and clean-up per procedures.
• Develop summaries, generate logs, and input field documentation.
• Participate on the Emergency Response team; one week on-call every six to eight weeks.

This Opportunity

Bay West is seeking a CDL Driver/Equipment Operator II to join our team! In this role, you'll operate specialized equipment, conduct hazardous waste cleanup, and provide top-tier service to our clients. You'll have opportunities for career growth and the chance to work in dynamic environments across various job sites.

This position will support daily operations at an active refinery, including routine maintenance work, planned outages, and turnaround projects. You will be responsible for safely operating commercial vehicles and specialized industrial equipment such as liquid vacuum trucks, guzzlers, hydro excavators, liquid ring units, combo trucks, and other refinery support equipment.

This is a hands-on position and is not limited to driving responsibilities. Team members are expected to actively participate in field operations, including equipment setup and breakdown, tank cleaning, hydroexcavation, vacuum services, maintenance support, and other industrial services work as needed.

Your Key Responsibilities

• Travel to job sites and operate vacuum trucks, roll off trucks and other company equipment and vehicles
• Safely operate specialized industrial equipment including liquid vacuum trucks, guzzlers, hydro excavators, liquid ring units, and combo trucks
• Accurately preform pre-trip and post trip, and report deficiencies daily
• Perform routine equipment maintenance, fluid checks, housekeeping, and report maintenance needs
• Label and manifest shipments in accordance with DOT regulations and company policies
• Interact with customers and provide superior customer service during all activities
• Maintain all required certifications required by DOT and OSHA and company safety programs
• Maintain and protect keep all equipment in excellent condition
• Participate in pre-job safety meetings, JSAs, and comply with all site-specific safety requirements
• Assist field crews with project setup, execution, and equipment breakdown
• Perform any other tasks assigned to support and improve the overall team operations
• Operate and troubleshoot routinely used tools and equipment
• Conduct hazardous waste operations and clean-up
• Develop summaries, generate photographic logs, and input field work documentation
• Actively participate on the Emergency Response (ER) team - one week of being on-call 24/7 every six to eight weeks needed

Who You Are

Required Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED or 10 years of related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Valid Commercial Driver's License Class B or A required
• Tanker and HAZMAT endorsement helpful, but will be provided to the right candidate
• Active 40-hour HAZWOPER Certificate helpful, but will be provided to the right candidate
• TWIC card helpful, but will be provided to the right candidate
• Basic computer skills, such as using Microsoft Office products, communicating through email, etc.
• Ability to travel as needed
• Possess or have access to reliable means of transportation on a 24-hour basis
• Experience operating construction equipment, like an excavator, loader, and/or skid steer helpful Able to work at heights and confined spaces
• Frequent lifting, carrying, or exertion of objects up to 25 pounds; occasionally up to 50 pounds
• Able to perform repetitive movements, including movements of digits, hands, wrists, and arms

Physical Requirements

• Repetitive motions: frequent standing, walking, lifting, carrying, bending, and grasping Frequently lift 25 lbs. over an 8-hour period, and occasionally up to 50 lbs. for less than one hour
• Frequent exposure to non-hazardous and hazardous work environments including contaminated air, soil, dust, fumes, smoke and other toxins
• Ability to work outside in varying conditions, such as high heat, high humidity and extreme cold in remote locations.
• Ability to read and interpret general documents, safety rules, and Standard Operating Procedures
• May engage in strenuous daily activities in confined workspaces
