Position Purpose

CDL Drivers/Operators and Laborers - Concrete must hold a valid CDL driver license. CDL Drivers work as part of a crew and may also operate equipment or provide general labor.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

• Perform all duties and responsibilities with Sunland's Core Values at the forefront.
• Work quickly, productively and safely to meet production goals set by foreman, superintendent, and/or production manager.
• Operate heavy equipment such as trucks, screeds, rollers, pavers, laying machines, curbing machines, and front‑end loaders to apply asphalt products according to job specifications.
• Know, understand and comply with DOT and state and local regulations.
• Ensure vehicle is road‑worthy before leaving yard and work with mechanics on repairs.
• Inspect truck and trailer before and after trips and complete DVIRs to ensure compliance with laws.
• Compile, maintain and log driving hours per state, federal, and local laws.
• Participate in job‑site and safety meetings and all company training.
• Communicate with paver operator, truck drivers and general laborers.
• Operate trucks to transport equipment and assist in equipment maintenance.
• Inspect, clean and maintain equipment and machinery.
• Invoke Sunland's Core Values.
• Set up and tear down equipment.
• Maintain a clean job site; pick up all tools and secure site each day.
• Serve as front‑line company representative and provide excellent service to customers and the public.
• Use hand tools such as rakes, shovels, wheel barrels, etc.
• Perform all other general labor work as needed.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

• Work at professional construction sites; communicate verbally, read printed materials, and maintain stamina to lift up to 50 pounds, climb stairs and ladders, balance, bend, kneel, crawl, and navigate safety requirements.
• Operate vehicles, trailers, machinery, and tools within safety guidelines.
• Work outdoors for long periods in all weather, including extreme heat and cold.
• May be exposed to chemicals, vapors, pollutants, viruses, gases, uneven surfaces, loud noise, moving vehicles or machines, dust/debris.

Position Type / Expected Hours

• Full‑time. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required.
• Willing to travel to any job site without exception, including staying away from home if necessary.

Minimum Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Six months to one year related experience preferred.
• Meet FMCSA English proficiency requirements under 49 CFR 391.11(b)(2).
• Complete and pass an English proficiency assessment.

Certifications, Licenses, and Registrations

• Current Class A CDL license in the state of primary work.
• Hazmat or tanker endorsement may be required depending on position.
• Pass DOT physical and maintain a current medical card.
• Pass DOT test and safety road test.
• Maintain a clean motor‑vehicle record.
