CDL Driver/Warehouse & Equipment Technician

Part Time Salt Lake City, UT, US

Salary Range: $24.00 To $33.00 Hourly

Position Summary

Modern Expo & Events is seeking a dependable, mechanically inclined CDL Driver / Warehouse & Equipment Technician to support our nationwide trade show, event, and exhibit operations. This position combines commercial driving, warehouse operations, event logistics, equipment maintenance, and facility support into a single versatile role.

This position plays a vital role in ensuring our events are delivered safely, efficiently, and professionally while maintaining the equipment and resources that make those experiences possible.

The ideal candidate enjoys working with their hands, solving problems, operating equipment, driving commercial vehicles, and supporting a fast-paced event environment. This individual will play a key role in ensuring our equipment, vehicles, exhibits, and event materials are delivered safely, maintained properly, and ready for client events.

Transportation & Logistics
  • Safely operate company CDL vehicles, box trucks, trailers, and other commercial vehicles.
  • Transport exhibits, event equipment, furnishings, graphics, and materials to and from event venues, warehouses, and client locations.
  • Conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections and maintain required DOT documentation.
  • Ensure loads are secured and transported safely in compliance with DOT regulations.
  • Coordinate deliveries, pickups, and transportation schedules with warehouse and project teams.
  • Assist with loading and unloading freight and event equipment.
Warehouse Operations
  • Pull, stage, load, and return equipment according to project load lists.
  • Receive, inspect, organize, and store inventory and rental equipment.
  • Maintain warehouse cleanliness, organization, and safety standards.
  • Assist with inventory counts, equipment tracking, and asset management.
  • Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other warehouse equipment safely.
Equipment Maintenance & Repair
  • Perform routine inspections, preventative maintenance, and minor repairs on company equipment, rental inventory, vehicles, trailers, and warehouse assets.
  • Troubleshoot equipment issues and identify repair needs before they impact operations.
  • Utilize hand tools, power tools, and mechanical knowledge to maintain operational readiness of equipment.
  • Coordinate larger repair needs with management and outside service providers when necessary.
  • Maintain repair logs and communicate maintenance concerns proactively.
  • Assist with facility maintenance projects and warehouse improvements as needed.
Facility & Operational Support
  • Assist with warehouse improvement projects and facility maintenance.
  • Support operational teams during peak production periods.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support successful event execution.
Team Support
  • Demonstrate flexibility and willingness to assist across departments as business needs require.
  • Follow all company safety policies, procedures, and operational standards.
  • Maintain a positive, team-oriented attitude and contribute to a culture of accountability and excellence.
Qualifications
Required
  • Valid Class A CDL with acceptable driving record.
  • Current DOT Medical Card.
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 75 pounds.
  • Ability to work flexible schedules include early mornings, evenings, weekends, and occasional overnight travel.
  • Strong work ethic, reliability, and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Preferred
  • Experience in transportation, warehouse operations, logistics, construction, event production, exhibits, or related industries.
  • Mechanical aptitude with experience troubleshooting and repairing equipment.
  • Forklift certification or ability to obtain certification.
  • Experience operating trailers, forklifts, lifts, and warehouse equipment.
  • Basic knowledge of vehicle and equipment maintenance.
Physical Requirements
  • Frequently lift and move equipment weighing up to 75 pounds.
  • Stand, walk, bend, kneel, climb, and work at varying heights.
  • Work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Operate vehicles and equipment for extended periods.
  • Ability to perform physically demanding work in warehouse and event environments.
