Overview

Summit Materials is looking for a safety-oriented driver with a Commercial Driver’s License to operate a commercial motor vehicle with a capacity of at least 26,001 GVWR to transport and deliver ready-mix concrete. Will be required to operate various aspects of the vehicle’s systems to alter, mix, or unload as required. It may require the use of automated routing equipment.

• Fills water tank, checks slump of load, and cleans excess material from truck.
• Safely drives loaded truck to the destination on the delivery ticket and instructions from Dispatch.
• Ensures all delivery tickets are signed and returned to the plant.
• Upon arrival, inspects job sites, works with customers to obtain adequate vehicle access, and unloads material.
• Communicates truck status with Dispatch by use of two-way radio and encoders.
• Rinse chutes and rear of truck free of spilled concrete (re-hang extension chutes as necessary).
• Returns to same yard or other yard as instructed by Dispatch and receives new instructions.
• Maintain good customer relations. Act in a professional, courteous manner.
• Maintain a professional appearance.
• Assists in training co-workers as needed.
• Performs pre-trip vehicle safety inspections and reports vehicle condition at the beginning and end of each shift.
• Checks all vehicle fluid levels daily and adds fluids as necessary.
• Occasionally, a chipping hammer is used to remove excess concrete buildup.
• Performs minor repairs and assists mechanics in vehicle repairs.
• Changes flat tires with spares and assists tire mechanic as needed.

• High School diploma or equivalent
• Valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License with a valid medical card
• Ability to provide high standards of customer service
• Ability to clean all areas on the vehicle, climb a ladder to inspect loads, and hang extension chutes
