Pay: $26-32/hour

The Residential Driver will be responsible for safely, efficiently, and courteously providing waste removal services to customers. The driver will collect solid waste or recyclables on curbside and/or backdoor routes and transport them to post-collection facilities.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Operate a residential/recycling collection, side-load and/or rear-load truck, ancillary equipment, and hydraulic systems to collect solid waste and/or recyclables on designated routes.
2. Load solid waste, yard waste, and recyclables into the rear or side of the waste collection vehicle.
3. Operate equipment on the truck to compact trash into the vehicle.
4. Perform pre-trip and post-trip safety inspections, complete route sheets, reports, and documentation as required.
5. Report mechanical issues immediately to the mechanic and supervisor.
6. Maintain route quality standards as set by management.
7. Follow all safety standards, equipment checks, and safety precautions. Comply with all relevant laws and company policies.
8. Keep the vehicle clean and report any prohibited waste items.
9. Manage assigned Helper(s) if applicable.
10. Adhere to all applicable laws, regulations, and company policies.
11. Wear all required personal protective equipment at all times.
12. Report accidents or incidents immediately.
13. Maintain a professional demeanor, manner, and appearance.
14. Keep accurate records of services performed.
15. Manage inventory of containers, carts, and spare parts; recommend purchases as needed.
16. Collaborate with supervisors to improve routing efficiency.
17. Work overtime if required.
18. Attend safety and branch meetings.
19. Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Possess a Commercial Driver's License (CDL).
• Minimum one year of commercial driving experience or CDL school certificate.
• Meet safety-sensitive criteria per company standards.
• Demonstrate safe driving and equipment operation skills.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Knowledge of truck components and basic maintenance.
• Ability to operate and maneuver trucks safely.
• Recognize unacceptable waste types.
• Effective communication skills.
• Ability to read, write, and understand documents and maps.
• Follow oral and written instructions.
• Flexibility and commitment to continuous improvement.
• Physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds repetitively and occasionally up to 100 pounds.
• Ability to work in loud outdoor environments and various weather conditions.

Physical and Mental Demands:

• Ability to stand, walk, reach, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, talk, hear, climb, and balance.
• Visual requirements include close, distance, peripheral, color, and depth perception.
• Regularly lift/move up to 10-25 pounds; occasionally up to 100 pounds.

Working Conditions:

• Exposure to loud noise, weather extremes, moving parts, chemicals, fumes, and airborne particles.
• Work primarily outdoors, often in traffic and high precarious places.
