Job summary

Feeney Brothers Utility Services is seeking a CDL Driver/Laborer to safely operate commercial vehicles and support utility construction projects, including natural gas infrastructure. You will perform pre-trip inspections, load materials, read plans, and ensure strict safety adherence.

The role requires a CDL, DOT cert, OSHA training, and 2+ years in construction driving. Expect physical labor, teamwork, and the ability to work in varied weather.

Qualifications

• Valid CDL Class A or B license with a clean driving record.
• Valid DOT Medical Examiner’s Certificate.
• OSHA 10-Hour Construction Safety Certification or willingness to obtain upon hire.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in construction driving.
• Vocational training or certification in construction-related fields.
• Experience with natural gas utility construction and underground utility installations.

Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain commercial vehicles (CDL Class A or B) with dump bodies to transport and unload materials such as sand, gravel, and construction equipment.
• Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections to ensure vehicle safety and compliance with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations.
• Load and unload equipment and materials, ensuring proper securing of loads to prevent shifting or damage during transit.
• Comprehensive understanding of DOT regulations and safety compliance related to commercial vehicle operation.
• Proficiency in operating heavy equipment and commercial vehicles in various construction environments.
• Ability to read and interpret construction plans, specifications, and safety guidelines.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to make informed decisions under pressure.
• Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, to interact with team members and supervisors.
• Physical stamina and dexterity to perform labor-intensive tasks in diverse weather conditions.
• Commitment to teamwork and collaboration to achieve project goals efficiently.
• Assist in various construction tasks including excavation and trenching for underground utility installations, installation and maintenance of natural gas pipelines, backfilling and compaction, restoration of work sites.
• Maintain cleanliness and readiness of vehicles, tools, and equipment.
• Adhere to all company safety protocols including PPE use and safety meetings.
• Complete and maintain accurate records such as vehicle logs and maintenance reports.
• Perform other duties as assigned to support project completion.
• Frequent standing, walking, bending, kneeling, and crouching.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds regularly.
• Climbing ladders and working at heights as required.
• Extended periods of sitting and driving.

Education

CDL Class A or B license
