Position Overview: CDL Driver I

The CDL Driver I delivers materials to job sites, inspects and maintains the truck, reports shortages and claims to supervisors, and assists in loading and storing materials. The role typically involves driving trucks with a capacity of more than three tons but may include less experienced CDL or tractor-trailer drivers.

Key Responsibilities

1. Operate vehicles safely and participate in a positive work environment.
2. Maintain a current Class A or B Commercial Driver's License.
3. Prepare DOT-mandated logs of duty and driving hours.
4. Organize and secure loads, assist forklift operators during loading.
5. Check order accuracy and deliver/unload materials to customer satisfaction.
6. Conduct daily vehicle pre-inspections and record returned merchandise.
7. Follow DOT guidelines and provide excellent customer service.
8. Relay messages from customers on-site and assist in various work areas as needed.
9. Maintain good housekeeping in yard and warehouse, operate truck-mounted forklift safely, and keep the truck clean.
10. Participate in training sessions and perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Basic CDL experience with flatbeds and/or tractor trailers; 1-3 years of CDL experience required for interstate commerce.
• Ability to perform basic math, read orders, and communicate effectively.
• Maintain current operator's license and meet driver qualification standards.
• Knowledge of safe lifting techniques and proficiency with relevant technologies.

Licenses and Certifications

• Class A CDL License required.
• Class B CDL License required.
