Job summary

McCarthy Building Companies, Inc. is looking for a Solar CDL Driver to safely transport equipment and materials to Renewable Energy job sites. You will follow site safety protocols, unload deliveries, and support efficient onsite operations with strong teamwork.

Responsibilities include vehicle operations for heavy trucks, daily checks, and coordinating with crew. The role requires CDL A, medical card, and tanker endorsement, with equal opportunity employment emphasized by the company.

Qualifications

  • Minimum age: 21+.
  • Minimum 1 year experience.
  • CDL A Certification up to date.
  • Current medical card required.
  • Tankers endorsement required per jobsite functions.
  • Thorough knowledge of equipment and safety on large construction sites.
  • Understand logistics and traffic control plans.
  • Demonstrates initiative, accountability and leadership.
  • Able to lift 50 lbs., push/pull heavy materials.
  • Knowledge of equipment maintenance and storage.
  • Able to squat, crawl and work in awkward spaces.
  • Stand/walk for extended periods.
  • Unrestricted use of hands/arms/back; good vision.
  • Self-motivated and team-oriented.
  • Reliable attendance.

Responsibilities

  • Operate GCWR 26,001+ lb vehicle with GVWR 10,001+ lb tows.
  • Perform daily equipment checks.
  • Transport materials locally to support solar projects.
  • Maneuver trucks into loading/unloading positions safely.
  • Operate on rough terrain/unpaved surfaces.
  • Clean, maintain and conduct basic equipment repairs.
  • Recognize hazards and danger zones.
  • Store equipment safely when not in use.
  • Coordinate with crew via signals.
  • Secure loads with appropriate binders.
  • Plan routes for required trips.
  • Follow hand signals for backing into tight areas.
  • All other duties by site leadership.

Position Summary

The Solar CDL Driver is responsible for the safe and successful transportation of equipment and materials for McCarthy’s Renewable Energy job sites. The Solar CDL Driver focuses on the safety of themselves and others on the road by adhering to traffic laws and job site safety protocols to ensure safe unloading and delivery to their destination.

Responsibilities
  • Operate/maneuver a combination of vehicles with a gross combination weight rating (GCWR) of 26,001 pounds or more, provided the gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) of the vehicle(s) being towed is 10,001 pounds or more
  • Daily checks to ensure equipment functions properly and safely
  • Transport material in a safe manner in a local area to support construction of our utility scale solar project
  • Maneuver trucks into loading or unloading positions throughout jobsite safely
  • Operate effectively on rough terrain/unpaved surfaces
  • Clean, maintain and conduct basic equipment repairs.
  • Recognize hazards and danger zones
  • Ensure equipment is safely and securely stored when not in use.
  • Coordinate with crew members in response to hand and/or audio signals.
  • Understand how to secure the load with the proper type of binders for the applicable load
  • Plan the route which the vehicle would need to take
  • Understand and follow hand signals that may be given for a vehicle backing into tight areas
  • All other duties assigned by site leadership
Qualifications
  • Minimum age: 21+
  • Minimum 1 year experience
  • Must have up to date CDL A Certification
  • Must have a current medical card
  • Maintain Tanker endorsement required per jobsite functions
  • Thorough knowledge of equipment and safety processes used in large construction sites
  • Understand logistics and traffic control plans.
  • Demonstrates initiative, accountability, and leadership within the team.
  • Ability to perform heavy lifting, pushing, pulling of material weighing 50 lbs.
  • Knowledge of equipment maintenance and storage
  • Ability to squat, crawl and work in awkward positions and confined spaces.
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time.
  • Unrestricted use of hands, arms, shoulders, upper/lower back, visual acuity, depth and color perception.
  • Self-motivated.
  • Ability to work well with others in a team environment.
  • Ability to meet attendance schedule with dependability and consistency.
  • Proof of Identity and Employment Authorization
