Job Overview
Viracon LLC – Wage Range: $23.40–$27.10
Shift: 6:00p.m. – 6:00a.m., WTF and every other Saturday
Function: Loads and unloads finished good boxes to and from the plant production areas in accordance with established production schedules and quality standards. Transports finished goods to off‑site storage areas with a semi‑tractor trailer following all DOT and company guidelines for drivers and material handler positions.
Responsibilities
- Unload material between locations and store materials safely.
- Interpret work orders, verbal requests, and instructions to move finished goods from location to location safely.
- Keep materials sorted and stored in prescribed order for ease of locating and moving.
- Ensure trucks and equipment are properly fueled and serviced at all times.
- Report to Supervisor when material transfers are complete.
- Perform duties of a Shipper Material Handler as assigned.
- Follow Business Process Documentation when performing duties.
- Participate in Viracon’s Continuous Improvement efforts by understanding team performance and actively implementing and supporting process improvements.
- Operate Ottawa tractor and Day cab tractor as needed.
- Maintain effective working relationships with all department employees.
- Maintain a neat and orderly working area throughout the day, including trucks and trailers.
- Perform duties safely using all approved safety equipment as instructed.
- May perform reasonably similar or related duties as instructed.
Qualifications
- Maintain a valid CDL endorsement on your license and meet CDL physical requirements.
- High School Diploma or GED preferred but not required.
- Forklift license, ClassA, and ICC physical card required.
- Perform duties with little or no work direction (most duties are performed without direct supervision).
- Understand and comply with all DOT rules and regulations.
- Maintain truck inspections and logs on a shift‑by‑shift basis to comply with DOT regulation.
- Log and communicate all repairs to your supervisor and the truck shop.
- Operate equipment in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
- Prefer two years’ experience in shipping.
- Understand and comply with international regulations regarding lumber (USDA, APHIS, and American Lumber Association).
- Familiarity with hoists, trucks, pallets, common hand tools, computer, Bobcat, overhead crane, and nail guns.
- Read and understand work instructions (English).
- Communicate effectively and work as a team member.
- Safely perform essential job responsibilities.
- Take supervision when required.
- Maintain regular full‑time attendance.
- Promote Viracon positively and obey all policies.
