Job summary

Viracon in Minnesota is seeking a Material Handler/Shipper to load and unload finished goods, move materials between plant locations, and transport to off-site storage using a semi-tractor trailer in compliance with DOT rules.

The role requires a CDL (Class A), forklift license, and ability to work a 6p–6a shift with every other Saturday. Wage range is $23.40–$27.10 per hour with full benefits.

Qualifications

• Must read and follow work instructions in English.

• Two years’ experience in Shipping preferred.

Responsibilities

• Unloads material between locations and stores safely.
• Interprets work orders and instructions to move goods safely.

• Ensures trucks and equipment are fueled and serviced.
• Reports completion to Supervisor and takes on new tasks.
• May perform duties of Shipper Material Handler as assigned.

Job description

Wage Range: $23.40-$27.10

Shift: 6p-6a, WTF and every other Saturday

Function

Loads and unloads finished good boxes to and from the plant production areas in accordance with established production schedules and quality standards. Transports finished goods to off‑site storage areas with a semi‑tractor trailer following all DOT and company guidelines for drivers and material handler positions of the company.

Essential Job Responsibilities

• Unloads material between locations and stores those materials in a safe manner.
• Interprets work orders, verbal requests and instructions to move finished goods from location to location in a safe manner.
• Keep materials sorted and stored in prescribed order for ease in locating and moving.
• Insure that trucks and other equipment are properly fueled and serviced at all times.
• When material transfers are complete report to Supervisor for other work assignments.
• Will perform duties of a Shipper Material Handler as assigned.
• Performs duties in accordance with the Business Process Documentation.
• Participates in Viracon’s Continuous Improvement efforts by understanding his/her team’s performance and actively implementing and supporting process improvements.

Additional Job Responsibilities

• Operate Ottawa tractor and Day cab tractor as needed.
• Maintains an effective working relationship with all department employees.
• Maintains a neat and orderly working area throughout the work day, including trucks and trailers.
• Performs duties in a safe manner using all approved safety equipment as instructed.
• May perform reasonably similar or related duties as instructed.

Qualifications

• Must maintain your CDL endorsement on your license and meet the CDL physical requirements.
• High School Diploma or equivalent GED preferred but not required.
• Forklift License, Class A and ICC physical card required.
• Ability to perform duties with little or no work direction. (Most duties are performed without direct supervision)
• Must understand and comply with all DOT rules and regulations.
• Truck inspections and logs must be maintained on a shiftily basis to comply with DOT regulation.
• Any and all repairs must be logged and communicated to both your supervisor and to the truck shop.
• Must always operate equipment in accordance with all Federal, State and Local Laws.
• Prefer two years’ experience in Shipping.
• Understand and comply with International regulations in regards to lumber.
• USDA, APHIS and American Lumber Association regulations compliance.
• Familiar with the use of hoists, truck, pallets, common hand tools, computer, Bobcat, overhead crane and nail guns.
• Ability to read and understand work instructions. (English)
• Ability to communicate effectively and work as a team member.
• Must be able to safely perform essential job responsibilities.
• Ability to take supervision.
• Regular full‑time attendance.
