Job description

Local CDL A or CDL B Driver

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities

The primary duty of the Driver, referred to as a Logistics Specialist II (with or without a Crane Operator certification), is to deliver building materials to customer locations or job sites. Drivers operate within a maximum 200-mile radius of their home branch, with all deliveries originating and ending at the branch (no overnight stays).

  • Safely operate a commercial vehicle in compliance with all DOT regulations
  • Lead job site safety by operating equipment in accordance with local, state, and federal laws
  • Perform pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections
  • Verify and confirm inventory loaded onto the truck, compare purchase orders, sign delivery tickets, confirm addresses, and obtain routing information before leaving the branch
  • Conduct a job site inspection, documenting any existing damage and noting the location of power lines, sprinklers, septic tanks, mailboxes, fences, etc.
  • Take pictures of all delivered building products as per company policy
Requirements
  • Valid Class A or Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL)
  • Ability to load and unload building products weighing up to 100 lbs. each, from a straight bed truck; forklift or Moffett experience is a plus
  • Safe driving record with no recent hit & run, DWI, or DUI convictions within the last three years; recent accidents or violations will be reviewed
  • Prior commercial driving experience and knowledge of DOT & OSHA safety regulations are advantageous
  • Experience in distribution is a plus
  • Ability to read, write, understand, and communicate in English
  • Minimum age of 18; 21 if crossing state lines or transporting hazardous materials
  • Pass a drug test and hold a current DOT medical certificate; no positive drug tests in the past 12 months
  • Authorized to work in the U.S. and pass an E-Verify check
