Position Summary
The CDL Driver/Forklift Operator is a dual role. The Yard Driver is responsible for responding to customers regarding the movement and spotting of trailers to facilitate the needs of the warehouse in sorting and processing material for shipment or storage. The CDL Driver is responsible for timely movements and thorough knowledge of on‑hand inventory and positioning. The Forklift Operator is tasked with operating power industrial trucks for moving, locating, relocating, stacking and counting merchandise. The operator is accountable for safe and efficient operation of the vehicle and may also perform order filling and checking duties to support the warehouse team. They are responsible for accurate storing, shipping and receiving of product to meet company safety, security and productivity standards.
Key Responsibilities
Yard Driver
- Maintain a neat and orderly storage lot oriented toward maximizing efficiency.
- Accounting for records involving trailer numbers and vehicle positions.
- Interact daily with warehouse supervisors and comply with safety requirements.
- Communicate via cellular telephone or 2‑way radio in a professional manner.
- Manoeuvre trucks into loading and unloading positions following crew signals. Apply safety wheel chocks and jack stands as required.
- Use proper airline/electrical hookup and backing procedures.
- Follow all company policies, guidelines and quality procedures.
- Perform other job‑related duties as assigned.
- Inspect and perform minor maintenance on equipment daily.
- Assist in maintaining yard security.
Receiving / Put‑Away
- Unload inbound shipments safely and move product to storage locations.
- Input data accurately into WMS.
- Efficiently stack and store product in the appropriate area.
- Maintain an organized work area.
Order Picking
- Pull and prepare for shipment, ensuring accurate quantity and type.
- Perform picking duties efficiently to meet customer service standards.
- Prepare freight for operations accurately and on time.
Quality
- Ensure inbound and outbound shipments are accurate and free of damage.
- Report quality variances.
Delivery
- Move product from staging or storage to production lines and docks efficiently.
- Ensure proper documentation accompanies freight.
Inventory
- Maintain appropriate records and reports for tight inventory control and security.
- Assist in physical inventories and ensure proper stock rotation.
Safety, Housekeeping and Compliance
- Maintain a clean, neat, orderly work area and assist with warehouse security.
- Comply with all SOPs, corporate and site policies, safety rules and OSHA/MSDS standards.
- Participate in safety meetings.
Equipment Operation
- Load, unload, move, stack and stage product using forklift, clamp truck, or other power equipment.
- Maintain equipment and materials in a neat, clean, orderly fashion.
- Inspect and perform minor maintenance on equipment daily.
- Operate all equipment safely and efficiently following prescribed methods.
- Maintain an active forklift certification.
Maintenance
- Assist in building, grounds, and equipment maintenance as assigned.
Other Duties
- Change forklift fuel tanks as needed.
- Repair pallets, trailers and truck bays when required.
- Help maintain a safe work environment.
- Perform additional duties as required.
Work Overtime
- Work overtime as dictated by business, whether mandatory or voluntary.

Minimum Required Qualifications
Education and Experience
- High school diploma or GED.
- Class A CDL with Hazmat endorsement.
- Minimum 2 years of verified tractor‑trailer experience within the past 4 years.
- Clean driving record and valid DOT medical certificate.
- Pass road and backing test during onboarding.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations or Professional Designations
- Completion of a forklift training program.
Other
- Must be able to work in unregulated temperatures ranging from mild to moderate.
Skills, Knowledge and Abilities
Computer Skills
- Basic computer skills.
- RF Scanners.
- WMS functions.
Language Skills
- English (reading, writing, verbal).
Mathematical Skills
- Basic to intermediate level for verifying product quantities, inventory counts and related tasks.
Other
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to perform duties with minimal supervision.
- Adaptability to change in a fast‑paced environment.
- Ability to work both outside and on‑site within the warehouse.
- Preferred: CDL or prior tractor‑yard experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- 1–2 years of experience in a warehouse/logistics/distribution environment.
- 1–2 years forklift experience.
- Current or prior MHE certification.
Physical Demands
- Occasionally: Handling/Fingering, Sitting.
- Frequently: Bending.
- Constantly: Walking and Standing.
- Ability to Lift/Carry and Push/Pull: 21–50 pounds; reach above shoulder, outward, squat or kneel.
Work Environment
Work performed rarely exposes the employee to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals. The noise level is usually low to moderate.

Compensation
Inclusive of a base pay range of $30.00–$30.00 per hour. Actual compensation is based on experience, skills, education, certifications and geography in accordance with applicable laws and company policy.
