Job summary

The DeLong Co., Inc. in Hampshire, IL seeks a CDL Driver to operate tractor-trailer equipment and transport materials to designated locations. This full-time role requires 1+ year CDL experience, a valid Class A CDL and a Federal Medical card, with longer hours during Harvest season.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Must have valid Class A CDL and Federal Medical card.
• ALL applicants must pass pre-employment drug and alcohol screening.
• Minimum of 1 year experience driving with a CDL.

Responsibilities

• Operate Class A tractor-trailer safely to transport material to job sites.
• Transport material to designated locations as required by Harvest schedule.
• Tarps loads when needed and verify gates are closed.
• Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections on equipment daily.
• Maintain cleanliness of the truck and surrounding area.
• Interact with customers and managers; adhere to DOT regulations.
• Observe speed limits and drive with due regard for safety.

Summary Description Of CDL Driver

CDL drivers are responsible for operating tractor-trailer equipment and maintain properly to transport material to designated location in a timely manner.

Essential Job Functions Of CDL Driver

• Must have valid CDL Class A
• Safely operate Class A truck to transport material to job site, possibly during Harvest season, driving on uneven or unfinished surface
• Must be able to climb up to 10 feet on ladders attached to truck or fertilizer tank
• Daily maintenance of equipment such as cleaning truck inside and out
• Regularly perform Pre-Trip and Post-Trip inspections on equipment.
• Recognize surroundings and practice traffic awareness to maintain a safe environment on the road and in the yard
• Tarp load when needed, verify gates are closed
• Ability to communicate effectively (verbal, listening, written).
• Ability to read maps and navigate to new locations
• Ability to work with minimum supervision and recognize matters needing attention and initiate action on that recognition.
• Provide Delivery service as required by established delivery standards
• Interact with customers and managers.
• Observing speed limits and obeying D.O.T. regulations
• Keeping driving records
• Utilizing Samsara equipment, including forward and rear facing cameras in the trucks.
