Job summary

The Wright Group in Crowley, LA is seeking a CDL-A driver to deliver goods across short and long distances. You will load and unload, record deliveries, and maintain logs for on-time client service.

Candidates must have a Class A CDL, current TWIC, and a clean driving record and be able to pass a drug/alcohol test. Overtime, weekend, and night work may be required to meet schedules.

Responsibilities

• Drive short and long distances to deliver goods to customers.

• Refuel, clean and inspect trucks; report incidents and mechanical issues.
• Plan routes using GPS and maintain activity logs.

Job description

Duties and Day-to-Day Responsibilities, but not limited to the following:

• Drive both short and long distances to deliver goods to customers.
• Load and unload cargo.
• Record cargo deliveries.
• Refuel and clean vehicle.
• Report road incidents to the dispatcher.
• Follow traffic laws.
• Inspect trucks and record issues.
• Follow accident procedures.
• Keep an activity log and log hours.
• Report mechanical problems to maintenance personnel.
• Plan routes using GPS system.
• Get goods to the client on time.
• Maintain a positive attitude with customers.
• Keep commercial driver license up to date.

Minimum Training, Education, and Experience Requirements:

• Class A CDL or commercial driver license.
• Current TWIC card.
• Must pass drug and alcohol test.
• Must have clean driving record.
• Must provide current MVR.
• Must provide a medical certificate.
• High school diploma.

• Two years of experience working as a CDL A driver with no legal or safety incidents on record
• Will work in warehouse when there is no loads to drive or other duties at plant.
• Overtime, weekend, night work may be required.

Preferred:

• Completion of professional truck driving educational program
• Ability to lift 50 pounds
• Enthusiasm for our products and desire to deliver them safely and on time
