Job summary

Momentum Environmental is seeking a CDL Driver/Equipment Operator to drive or operate a range of field equipment as part of service crews at customer locations. The operator often serves as the site leader on crews and collaborates with operational leadership.

Reports to the Director of Operations and handles safety, technical, and operational duties to ensure safe, profitable execution of environmental and waste services. Will travel to upstate New York and participate in on-call rotations.

Qualifications

• CDL B license with tanker endorsement; CDL A and HAZMAT endorsements are a plus.
• Experience operating hydro excavation units is a plus.
• Understanding of OSHA, RCRA, and DOT regulations as they relate to field services.
• High emotional intelligence and ability to develop relationships/trust with team members.

Responsibilities

• Drive and operate a wide variety of rolling stock and vocational equipment including hydro excavation trucks, vacuum trucks, dump trucks, and other equipment.
• Provide field leadership and technical support on field service projects with respect to equipment operation.
• Participate in emergency response engagements and on-call service rotations.
• Coordinate with Directors, Project Managers and Supervisors to ensure crews are properly equipped and positioned for success.
• Communicate with operational colleagues on technical and quality control elements and schedules.
• Assist with labor, equipment, rental equipment, materials, and waste processing across the service territory.
• Maintain adherence to all environmental laws and regulations.

Job description

Momentum Environmental provides industrial cleaning, waste management, emergency response and remediation services in the northeastern US and services a repeat blue chip customer base. The CDL Driver/Equipment Operator (Operator) drives or operates vocational, rolling stock equipment as part of field service crews at customer locations. The Operator is often the site leader on specific crews and works closely with operational leadership.

The Operator reports to the Director of Operations and is responsible for a wide variety of technical, safety and operational responsibilities in support of the safe and profitable execution of environmental, industrial, and waste services.

• Plays an active role in the Company’s Health and Safety system including safety planning, toolbox safety talks, near miss reporting and hazard communication.
• Safely drives and operates a wide variety of rolling stock and yellow iron equipment including commercial and vocational equipment such as hydro excavation trucks, vacuum trucks, dump trucks, road tractors, roll off trucks, off road vehicles and other equipment.
• Provides field leadership, technical expertise and support on field service projects with respect to equipment operation and supports the scope, schedule budget of all assigned projects.
• Participates in emergency response engagements by being a part of on call service rotations.
• Works directly with Directors, Project Managers and Supervisors to ensure field crews are properly equipped and positioned for success.
• Communicates regularly with other operational colleagues on technical and quality control elements of service engagements as well as dynamic schedules.
• Supports the logical efforts of the Company while managing company level functions related to labor, internal equipment, rental equipment, specialty materials, and waste processing throughout the company’s service territory.
• Maintains an unwavering commitment to the adherence of all state, local, and federal environmental laws, and regulations.

Position Qualification Requirements: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The following requirements are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required by the position.

Specific Skills and Core Competencies

• A CDL B license with tanker endorsement. CDL A and HAZMAT endorsements a plus.
• Experience operating hydro excavation units is a plus.
• At least 1-2 years of CDL operating experience.
• Understanding of OSHA, RCRA, and DOT regulations as they relate to field services.
• High emotional intelligence and ability to develop relationships/ trust with team members.
• Ability to effectively interact with management, other departments, and vendors.
• Ability to travel to most areas of upstate New York for job site support.

Able to work nights and weekends when needed.

Personal Protective Equipment

• When working at a customer site or in a field environment, as appropriate, the ability to wear any of the following personal protective equipment (PPE) required:

• Others as required by OSHA, Internal EH&S, and customer/ site EH&S

While performing essential duties of this position an individual regularly works in a variety of environments, and is required to see, talk, hear, reach with hands, stand, walk, drive frequently, use a computer keyboard, mouse, telephone, and other office equipment. Essential duties require bending, squatting and twisting frequently. The employee will frequently be exposed to dirt, dust and fumes.

Noise levels of the typical work environment is generally moderate but may vary depending on customer site visits. The employee will occasionally be required to lift/move up to 75 lbs.
