Job description

Local CDL A or CDL B Driver

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities

The primary duty of the Driver, known as a Logistics Specialist II (with or without a Crane Operator), is to deliver building materials to customers' businesses or job sites. Drivers operate within a maximum of a 200-mile radius of their home branch, with deliveries originating and ending at the branch, ensuring no overnight stays are required.

  • Safely operate a commercial vehicle in compliance with all DOT regulations
  • Lead job site safety by operating equipment according to local, state, and federal laws
  • Perform pre- and post-trip inspections
  • Validate and confirm loaded inventory, compare with purchase orders, sign delivery tickets, and verify addresses and routing information before leaving the branch
  • Conduct job site inspections, document existing damages, and note the location of utilities and obstacles such as power lines, sprinklers, septic tanks, mailboxes, fences, etc.
  • Capture photos of all delivered building products in accordance with company policy

Requirements

  • Valid Class A or Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL)
  • Ability to load and unload building products weighing up to 100 lbs. each, using a straight bed truck. Experience with forklifts or Moffett is a plus
  • Safe driving record with no hit & run incidents, DWI, or DUI convictions within the last three years. Past accidents or violations will be reviewed by HR and management
  • Prior commercial driving experience and knowledge of DOT & OSHA safety regulations are advantageous
  • Experience in distribution is a plus
  • Ability to read, write, understand, and communicate in English
  • Minimum age of 18; 21 if crossing state lines or transporting hazardous materials
  • Pass a drug test and possess a current DOT medical certificate; no positive drug tests in the past 12 months
  • Authorized to work in the U.S. and pass an E-Verify check
