Job summary

Brown & Root Industrial Services is seeking a skilled rigging worker to assemble hoisting rigging and assist in moving equipment on construction sites. You will follow instructions, prepare gear, and coordinate with crane operators to lift loads safely and efficiently.

The role emphasizes strict adherence to safety rules and precision in handling equipment, with responsibilities ranging from selecting tools to directing hoisting operations on site.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; field experience preferred.
• Familiar with rigging, hoisting, and crane signals.
• Knowledge of safety rules and standard procedures in construction environments.
• Ability to read diagrams and follow instructions precisely.

Responsibilities

• Load, transport, unload and assist in selecting cables, ropes, pulleys, winches, blocks and sheaves based on load size and weight.
• Attach pulleys and blocks to overhead structures using bolts and clamps.
• Secure loads with grappling devices and connect to crane hooks.
• Direct crane operators using hand signals or radios to ensure safe hoisting.

SUMMARY Assembles rigging to lift and move equipment or material to construction project.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Loads, transports, unloads and assists in selecting cables, ropes, pulleys, winches, blocks and sheaves, according to weight and size of load to be moved.
• Attaches pulley and blocks to fixed overhead structures, such as beams, ceilings and gin pole booms with bolts and clamps.
• Attaches load with grappling devices such as loops, wires, ropes and chains to crane hook.
• Gives direction to crane operator or hoisting engineer engaged in hoisting and moving loads to ensure safety of workers and material handled using hand signals, loudspeaker, two-way radio or telephone.
• Sets up braces and rigs hoisting equipment using hand tools and power wrenches.
• Has ability to tie various knots.
• Assembles and disassembles cranes.
• Splices rope and wire cables to make or repair slings or tackle.
• May direct workers engaged in hoisting of machinery and equipment onto or off ships, railroad, cars or trucks.
• Perform minor maintenance or cleaning activities of tools and equipment.
• Responsible for observing all safety rules.
• Performs other duties as required.
