Job summary

Halperns' Steak & Seafood in Fort Lauderdale, FL is seeking a CDL Class B Driver to join our delivery team. This role delivers Halperns’ products on time and in good condition, communicating any customer issues and maintaining a professional image.

Starting pay is $46,800 per year with a schedule Monday through Saturday from 5:00am to 1:00pm or finish. You will operate a van or truck, perform pre/post trip inspections, and help ensure safe, accurate deliveries.

Responsibilities

• Deliver Halperns’ products safely, accurately and on time.
• Follow DOT and company policies and procedures.
• Build and maintain customer relationships; demonstrate self-control.
• Accurately collect customer payments and safeguard funds.
• Monitor reefer temperature and report issues promptly.
• Complete daily check-ins with accuracy and timeliness.
• Communicate customer concerns with management and sales.
• Perform daily pre/post trip vehicle inspections; manage paperwork.
• Maintain a clean and organized truck cab and trailer.
• Attend department meetings; perform other duties as assigned.

Position Summary:

Presents a positive image to Halperns’ Steak and Seafood customers through courteous, on-time, and accurate deliveries of Halperns’ products. Communicates customer issues and concerns. Operates Halperns’ equipment in a professional and safe manner demonstrating attention to detail, safe work habits, working knowledge of equipment and the ability to deal effectively with customers and the public.

Essential Functions:

• Ensures safe, accurate, timely, and efficient delivery of Halperns’ products.
• Follows all company and Department of Transportation (DOT) policies and procedures.
• Builds and maintains good customer relationships. Demonstrates self-control.
• Accurately collects customer payments. Safeguards company funds and follows Halperns’ banking policies.
• Monitors reefer temperature, and reports mechanical issues and damages in a timely manner.
• Completes daily check-ins in a timely manner with no errors.
• Collaborates with management and sales representatives to communicate customer concerns.
• Performs daily pre/post trip inspection of vehicles and equipment. Completes check in process accurately and on time. Manages paperwork to include register, credits, pick-ups, etc
• Maintains the truck cab and trailer in a clean and organized manner
• Attends department meetings
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Knowledge / Skills / Abilities:

• Ability to adhere to all safety/compliance regulations and procedures.
• Must maintain a professional appearance wearing the Halperns’ uniform.
• This position requires punctuality, problem solving and attention to detail.
• Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
• Ability to work independently and also function in a team environment.
• Must be goal oriented with a positive “can-do” attitude.
• Ability to read, write, understand and communicate in the English language.
• Ability to meet the physical demands of this job including lifting, pushing, pulling of product.

Equipment / Tools / Technology:

• Ability to operate a van, straight truck and/or tractor-trailer CMV as appropriate
• Must be able to operate a dolly with a load weighing up to 350 pounds.
• Uses dollies and other safety equipment to aid in the lifting and carrying of products.
