Sterling Crane LLC, founded in 1954, is one of North America's leading companies in the heavy lift industry, providing operated and bare rentals, sales, parts, and exceptional service to our customers. We have one of the largest inventories of modern lifting equipment in North America, with over 1000 units. Due to increased demand, we are seeking a CDL Crane Operator at our San Antonio / Pleasanton, TX Yard.

Job Purpose

The crane operator is responsible for safely operating cranes efficiently while maintaining accuracy in line with company procedures and customer requirements.

Duties and Responsibilities
  1. Operate a variety of specialized machinery safely and efficiently, following established procedures and guidelines, ensuring proper selection and setup regarding crane, lift, or hoist.
  2. Inspect and evaluate ground conditions and identify any overhead obstructions.
  3. Perform routine maintenance and minor repairs through daily equipment inspections.
  4. Keep logs and records of operational activities.
  5. Maintain clear visual and radio communication with ground operators, adhering to safety regulations and responding promptly to instructions.
  6. Perform additional duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications & Skills
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • At least 3 years of experience operating rough terrain cranes, carry decks, crawlers, and mobile cranes.
  • Class A CDL.
  • Ability to pass post-offer drug and physical screenings and meet background requirements.
  • Dependable with flexibility to work overtime as needed.
  • Current NCCCO Crane Operator's License for qualified equipment.
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings, materials, or instructions.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong teamwork abilities.
Physical Requirements
  • Good depth perception and quick reaction time.
  • Ability to lift up to 65 lbs occasionally and 50 lbs regularly.
  • Visual acuity to follow hand signals, maintain logs, and operate machinery.
  • Ability to sit for extended periods.
  • Ability to work in various weather conditions, including extreme heat and cold.
