Job summary

Austin Powder is seeking a safety‑minded driver to join our field operations. This role combines driving with hands‑on labor at outdoor locations, requiring exposure to the elements and the ability to lift 50 lbs.

You will transport materials, perform inspections, and help produce bulk products at customer sites with strict safety and regulatory compliance. The position offers on‑site supervision, the need for a valid CDL, and the flexibility to work non‑traditional hours.

Qualifications

• Valid Class‑A or Class‑B CDL license and clean driving record.
• Ability to work outside in all weather conditions.
• Physical ability to lift 50 lbs. on a regular basis.
• Must be able to read and interpret gauges and regulate gauges to correct standards.
• Maintain accurate records of daily operations, including product usage and safety checks.
• Troubleshooting and problem solving to fix field issues.
• Hazmat tanker and air brake endorsements are highly preferred.
• Must meet explosive laws and qualifications as an ATF purchaser.
• Ability to work non‑traditional hours; early starts.
• High attention to detail for inventory accuracy.

Responsibilities

• Maintains/operates vehicles and equipment safely.
• Driving 20‑30%; perform outdoor labor with hand tools.
• Coordinate and handle mechanical means to deliver emulsion.
• Transport goods, inventory, and hazardous materials to destinations.
• Keep logs; verify loads against manifest; track hours.
• Load/unload and transport materials to destinations; includes fall protection.
• Operate MMUs on site to create bulk products for blasting.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and policies.
• Operate equipment controlling chemicals into the product.
• Hands‑on operation and maintenance at locations and customer sites.

Key Responsibilities and Duties

• Maintains/operates vehicles and equipment in a safe, professional manner.
• Driving time is 20‑30% and remainder is performing physical labor activities using hand tools, shovels, etc. outside with exposure to the elements.
• Ability to coordinate and handle mechanical mechanisms to deliver emulsion.
• Picks up and transports goods, inventory, hazardous materials, and other types of cargo to intended destinations.
• Keeps driving and delivery logs maintained, confirms the contents of loads match manifest documents, and tracks and reports working hours.
• Responsible for loading/unloading and transporting materials and supplies to and from specified destinations, which includes overhead bin loading requiring fall protection.
• Operates mobile manufacturing units (MMUs) onsite at customer locations to create a wide array of bulk products for blasting.
• Masters the operation of Austin Powder bulk equipment to create consistent quality in our products to enhance our customer experience.
• Complete pre‑ and post‑trip vehicle inspections and reports any maintenance requirements to Location Manager.
• Comply with all regulatory requirements and company policies for the delivery of bulk and packaged explosives.
• Operate mobile manufacturing equipment, which includes precise control of chemicals into the product.
• Hands‑on approach in the daily operation and maintenance of the Austin Powder location and customer sites.
• Other duties as assigned.

Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities

• Valid Class‑A or Class‑B CDL license and clean driving record.
• Ability to work outside in all weather conditions.
• Physical ability to lift 50 lbs. on a regular basis.
• Must be able to read and interpret gauges and regulate gauges to correct standards.
• Maintain accurate records of daily operations, including product usage and safety checks.
• Troubleshooting, problem‑solving skills to fix issues in the field.
• Hazmat tanker and air brake endorsements are highly preferred.
• Must meet the requirements of all State and Federal explosive laws and qualifications as an ATF explosive purchaser.
• Unrestricted for operating manual transmissions is a plus.
• Ability to work non‑traditional hours (starting very early).
• High attention to detail to have accurate inventory record keeping.
• Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure.
• Ability to follow instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, product bulletins, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
• Ability to identify products by sight.
• Reliable transportation.

Education and Experience

• Must be 21 years of age as required by the DOT.
• High school diploma or equivalent.

Reporting Relationships

• Reports to the Location Manager for daily operations and when on‑site at a customer's location, will take instructions from Blaster‑In‑Charge.

Work Environment and Physical Demands

• Position involves working outdoors in all weather conditions, lifting and carrying approximately 50 lbs., and doing a variety of hands‑on physical tasks utilizing material handling equipment, safety equipment, and hand tools.
