Job summary

Austin Powder is seeking a CDL driver to operate and maintain bulk-emulsion delivery equipment at customer sites and on-site plants. Driving time is 20–30% with substantial outdoor labor; you will load, unload, and transport materials while maintaining accurate logs and performing regular vehicle inspections.

The role requires reading gauges, complying with DOT and ATF regulations, and lifting up to 50 lbs.

Qualifications

  • Must be 21 years of age or older and meet DOT requirements.
  • Able to lift up to 50 lbs regularly.
  • Ability to read and interpret gauges and regulate to required standards.
  • Hazmat, tanker, and air brake endorsements preferred.
  • Must meet ATF explosive possessor qualifications and comply with explosive laws.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains/operates vehicles safely and efficiently.
  • Drives 20–30% of time; performs outdoor labor using hand tools.
  • Loads/unloads and transports materials and supplies to designated destinations.
  • Keeps accurate driving and delivery logs; verifies load contents against manifests.
  • Operates mobile manufacturing units (MMUs) on-site at customer locations when required.

Home Nightly - No Weekends - Sign-On Bonus*Put Your Career in the Driver SeatJoin the Family - Come work for an exciting company offering great benefits, challenging opportunities, and colleagues who feel more like family.Key Responsibilities and DutiesMaintains/operates vehicles and equipment in a safe, professional manner.Driving time is 20 – 30% and remainder is performing physical labor activities using hand tools, shovels, etc. outside with exposure to the elements.Ability to coordinate and handle mechanical mechanisms to deliver emulsion.Picks up and transports goods, inventory, hazardous materials, and other types of cargo to intended destinations.Keeps driving and delivery logs maintained, confirms the contents of loads match manifest documents, and tracks and reports working hours.Responsible for loading/unloading and transporting materials and supplies to and from specified destinations, which includes overhead bin loading requiring fall protection.Operates mobile manufacturing units (MMUs) onsite at customer locations to create a wide array of bulk products for blasting.Masters the operation of Austin Powder bulk equipment to create consistent quality in our products to enhance our customer experience.Complete pre- and post-trip vehicle inspections and reports any maintenance requirements to Location Manager.Comply with all regulatory requirements and company policies for the delivery of bulk and packaged explosives.Operate mobile manufacturing equipment, which includes precise control of chemicals into the product.Hands on approach in the daily operation and maintenance of the Austin Powder location and customer sitesOther duties as assigned.Skills, Knowledge, and AbilitiesValid Class-A or Class-B CDL license and cleaning driving recordAbility to work outside in all weather conditions.Physical ability to lift 50 lbs. on a regular basis.Must be able to read and interpret gauges and regulate gauges to correct standards.Maintain accurate records of daily operations, including product usage and safety checks.Trouble shooting, problem solving skills to fix issues in the field.Hazmat, tanker, and air brake endorsements are highly preferred.Must meet the requirements of all State and Federal explosive laws and qualify as an ATF explosive possessor.Unrestricted for operating manual transmissions is a plus.Ability to work non-traditional hours (starting very early)High attention to detail to have accurate inventory record keeping.Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure.Ability to follow instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, product bulletins, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.Ability to identify products by sight.Reliable transportationEducation and ExperienceMust be 21 years of age as required by the DOTHigh school diploma or equivalentReporting RelationshipsReports to the Location Manager for daily operations and when on-site at a customer’s location, will take instructions from Blaster-In-ChargeWork Environment and Physical DemandsThis position involves working outdoors in all weather conditions, lifting and carrying approximately 50 lbs. and doing a variety of hands-on physical tasks utilizing material handling equipment, safety equipment and hand tools.Austin Powder is an Equal Opportunity and Affirmative Action Employer and is committed to ensuring equal employment opportunities for all job applicants and employees.
