Position Purpose :
As an essential part of the nation's food supply chain, our delivery drivers ensure that products reach their destinations safely and on time. You will act as the face of our company, building valuable relationships with our customers.
Primary Responsibilities :
- Always communicate professionally with customers, vendors, and co-workers, addressing questions accurately and timely.
- Collaborate effectively as a team member within the organization, performing any duty assigned to meet company goals.
- Conduct all required safety checks on the vehicle, ensuring compliance with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations.
- Monitor and report all safety issues and necessary vehicle repairs.
- Adhere to all DOT regulations and company driving policies.
- Inspect cargo for secure loading and report any safety hazards immediately.
- Conduct count checks of items and verify customer invoices.
- Ensure all required paperwork is completed accurately and legibly.
- Move tractor to the loading dock as needed and attach preloaded trailers.
- Drive to deliver customer orders according to a predetermined schedule.
- Unload products and transport them to customer storage areas.
- Conduct damage assessments on items and engage with supervisors regarding order removals per company policy.
- Confirm delivery with customers, obtaining proper signatures.
- Collect payments (cash or checks) when necessary, ensuring all customer returns are loaded securely.
- Ensure all vehicles and freight are locked and secured appropriately.
- Handle any damaged goods or returns and complete necessary paperwork during check-in.
- Document hours of service accurately in compliance with Federal DOT, state, and company requirements.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization in the vehicle and loading dock area.
- At the end of your shift, secure all equipment and complete all required documentation.
- Perform additional related duties as assigned.
Qualifications :
- 12 months of commercial driving experience.
- High school diploma / GED or equivalent.
- Valid CDL A license.
- Meet all state licensing and certification requirements.
- Must be at least 21 years of age.
- Clean Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) for the past 3 years.
- Pass a post-offer drug test and criminal background check.
- Pass a road test.
- Possess a valid DOT Health Card or the ability to secure one.
- Able to hand-lift and utilize equipment to move products weighing between 10-90 pounds throughout the shift.
