Responsibilities

• Safely operate company box trucks and semi-trucks for local and over-the-road deliveries.
• Complete pre-trip, post-trip, and periodic vehicle inspections and report issues.
• Verify loads against bills of lading and packing slips before departure.
• Load, secure, and protect products to prevent damage during transport.
• Deliver products safely, on time, and in accordance with procedures.
• Obtain delivery receipts and sign-off documentation; return records to the appropriate department.
• Comply with DOT/FMCSA and state/local regulations including hours-of-service.
• Plan routes, fuel stops, and rest periods to support efficiency.
• Communicate with customers and internal teams about delivery status and issues.
• Report accidents or safety incidents per company policies.
• Maintain vehicle cleanliness and proper storage of delivery equipment.
• Assist with loading/unloading and other warehouse tasks when not delivering.
• Follow all safety policies and PPE requirements.

Position Overview:

The purpose of the CDL Driver at Gasser Chair is to safely transport finished products, materials, and equipment using company box trucks and semi-trucks for local and over-the-road deliveries.

This position is responsible for ensuring products are loaded, secured, transported, and delivered in a manner that protects product quality, meets customer delivery commitments, and complies with all applicable Department of Transportation (DOT), Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA), state, and local requirements.

The CDL Driver plays a key role in supporting customer satisfaction, on-time delivery performance, transportation safety, and the protection of company assets.

Responsibilities:

1. Safe Vehicle Operation: Safely operate company box trucks and semi-trucks to complete scheduled local and over-the-road deliveries.
2. Vehicle Inspections: Complete required pre-trip, post-trip, and periodic vehicle inspections; report vehicle, equipment, maintenance, or safety concerns to leadership.
3. Load Verification: Verify delivery loads against bills of lading, packing slips, delivery schedules, and other shipping documentation before departure.
4. Cargo Securement: Load, unload, secure, and protect finished products, materials, and equipment to prevent damage during transportation.
5. Delivery Execution: Deliver products safely, accurately, and on schedule while following customer site requirements and company delivery procedures.
6. Documentation: Obtain delivery receipts, customer signatures, bills of lading, and other proof-of-delivery documentation; return completed records to the appropriate department.
7. DOT Compliance: Comply with all DOT, FMCSA, state, and local transportation regulations, including applicable hours-of-service, electronic logging, inspection, and licensing requirements.
8. Route and Schedule Management: Plan and manage assigned routes, fuel stops, delivery appointments, and rest periods to support efficient and timely deliveries.
9. Customer Service: Communicate professionally with customers, receiving personnel, and internal team members regarding delivery status, delays, damages, or other delivery-related concerns.
10. Incident Reporting: Immediately report accidents, traffic citations, cargo damage, vehicle damage, injuries, and other safety incidents in accordance with company procedures.
11. Vehicle and Equipment Care: Maintain a clean, organized, and professional company vehicle and ensure delivery equipment is properly stored and maintained.
12. Shipping and Warehouse Support: Assist with loading, unloading, shipping, warehouse, material-handling, and other department needs when not assigned to deliveries.
13. Safety Compliance: Perform all duties in accordance with established company safety policies, including proper use of personal protective equipment and safe material-handling practices.

Qualifications:

1. Valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with an acceptable driving record.
2. Current DOT medical certification and ability to meet all DOT/FMCSA qualification requirements.
3. Experience operating both box trucks and tractor-trailers preferred.
4. Ability and willingness to complete local and over-the-road deliveries, including overnight travel as business needs require.
5. Knowledge of applicable DOT, FMCSA, state, and local transportation regulations.
6. Ability to inspect, load, secure, and unload products and materials safely.
7. Ability to read, understand, and complete bills of lading, delivery receipts, inspection reports, electronic logs, and other shipping documents.
8. Experience using cargo securement equipment, pallet jacks, lift gates, and other delivery-related tools preferred.
9. Ability to use GPS/navigation systems, electronic logging devices, and mobile communication devices.
10. Strong attention to safety, detail, time management, and customer service.
11. Effective communication skills and ability to work independently with limited supervision.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

The CDL Driver at Gasser Chair is expected to perform duties that involve extended periods of sitting while operating commercial vehicles, as well as regular physical activity during loading and unloading activities. The position requires the ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, climb in and out of vehicles, secure cargo, and move throughout customer, warehouse, and loading-dock environments.

The CDL Driver must be capable of frequently lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, and maneuvering products, materials, and equipment up to 75 pounds. Heavier items must be moved using team lifts, material-handling equipment, or other safe lifting methods. The position requires the ability to work in varying weather conditions and temperatures and around moving vehicles, loading equipment, warehouse activity, and customer locations while following all established safety procedures.
