Job summary

SA Recycling in East Point, Georgia is seeking a Spotter/Yard Jockey responsible for pre and post trip inspections of tractors and trailers in compliance with DOT regulations. The candidate will ensure the secure movement and storage of containers and trailers within the yard.

Qualifications include a High School diploma or GED, a valid Class A CDL, and three years' experience. Bilingual candidates are preferred. This role involves working in a scrap metal recycling environment.

Qualifications

• Three years’ experience with roll-off and/or tractor trailer.
• Must pass DOT Physical/Drug Screen.

Responsibilities

• Conduct pre and post trip inspections of all tractors and trailers.
• Ensure trailers and containers are secured and stored properly.
• Communicate safety or equipment issues to management.

Responsibilities of a Spotter/Yard Jockey

• Responsible for pre and post trip inspections of all tractors and trailers in accordance with DOT regulations.
• Ensure all trailers and containers are moved, parked, stored and secured accordingly within the recycling or storage yards.
• Communicate any safety or equipment issues with management.
• Operate effectively and safely on all staging areas, parking surfaces, and roads.
• Maintain a clean and orderly work area.
• Observe all safety procedures.

Qualifications of a Spotter/Yard Jockey

• High School diploma, GED Certification, or equivalent work experience.
• Valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License.
• Three (3) plus years’ experience of roll‑off and/or tractor trailer experience.
• Clear MVR, PSP and Clearing House.
• Bi‑lingual (English and Spanish) a plus.
• Must pass DOT Physical/Drug Screen.
• Must pass Background Check.

Candidates may not have more than 2 moving violations within the past 2 years for consideration.

Physical Requirements

• Work Environment: Scrap metal recycling and shredder yard.
• Equipment & Tools: Trucks up to 18 wheeler, hydraulic truck tilt and lift operations, box containers, mechanics tools.
• Physical Demand Level: Light to Moderate, keeps steady when machine rocking in all directions, climbing fixed ladders.
