Job summary

Steel Anchor Inc. in New Jersey is seeking part-time FedEx linehaul drivers to fill in on a flexible schedule from our Edison terminal. You will transport freight between FedEx facilities while adhering to safety procedures and DOT rules.

This role requires a valid Class A CDL with doubles endorsement, a current DOT medical card, and at least 1 year of tractor-trailer experience (or 5 years in the last decade). Training and dispatch support provided.

Responsibilities

• Safe linehaul driving between FedEx facilities following safety procedures.
• Comply with DOT hours-of-service rules and certify logs in the Motive ELD app.
• Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections and report defects promptly.
• Safely couple/uncouple trailers, check connections, lights and brakes before departure.
• Communicate with dispatch about assignments, delays and driving hours.
• Verify trailer numbers and seals; complete trip, mileage and fuel records.
• Report incidents or unsafe conditions and maintain professional conduct.

Responsibilities

Safe linehaul driving: Transport freight safely between FedEx facilities, following traffic laws and company safety procedures.

DOT hours of service Motive: Comply with applicable DOT/FMCSA hours-of-service rules. Keep accurate duty-status records and review and certify your logs in the Motive ELD app.

Vehicle inspections: Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections, complete required inspection reports, and promptly report equipment defects.

Trailer connections: Safely couple and uncouple trailers and doubles as assigned. Check connections, air lines, lights and brakes before departure.

Dispatch communication: Confirm assignments with dispatch and communicate delays, road conditions, availability and remaining legal driving hours.

Trip records: Verify trailer numbers and seals, and complete required trip, mileage and fuel documentation accurately.

Safety and professionalism: Promptly report incidents, breakdowns and unsafe conditions. Keep equipment orderly and work respectfully with dispatch, terminal staff and other drivers.
