Krügel Cobbles, Inc. in Lake Bluff, IL, is seeking a dependable CDL Class A Equipment Operator / Dump Truck Driver to join our Excavation Crew for the 2026 season.

You will safely transport materials, operate excavation machinery, and support the crew in preparing driveways, patios, and hardscape installations. The ideal candidate has a valid Class A CDL, experience with dump trucks and trailers, and the ability to work outdoors in varying weather.

Qualifications

  • Valid Class A CDL with clean driving record.
  • Experience operating dump trucks and equipment trailers.
  • Experience operating mini excavators and skid steers preferred.
  • Knowledge of excavation and grading practices preferred.
  • Ability to safely back trailers in residential areas.
  • Ability to lift 75 pounds.
  • Comfortable working outdoors in all weather.

Responsibilities

  • Safely operate company dump trucks with a Class A CDL.
  • Haul aggregates and materials to and from job sites.
  • Transport excavators and skid steers on trailers.
  • Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections.

CDL Class A Equipment Operator / Dump Truck Driver (Excavation Crew)

Krügel Cobbles, Inc. is seeking a dependable and experienced CDL Class A Equipment Operator / Dump Truck Driver to join our Excavation Crew for the 2026 construction season.

This position is ideal for someone who enjoys operating heavy equipment, hauling materials and machinery, and working as part of a professional hardscape construction team. The successful candidate will safely transport equipment and materials, operate excavation equipment, and assist the crew in preparing job sites for high-end residential hardscape installations.

Position Responsibilities
Driving & Transportation
  • Safely operate company dump trucks requiring a Class A CDL.

  • Haul aggregates, gravel, sand, CA-7, topsoil, and other construction materials to and from job sites.

  • Transport excavators, skid steers, compact equipment, and attachments using equipment trailers.

  • Secure loads in accordance with DOT regulations.

  • Perform daily pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections.

  • Complete driver logs and required inspection reports.

  • Maintain a clean driving record and follow all DOT and company safety requirements.

Equipment Operation
  • Operate mini excavators, skid steers, compact track loaders, and other excavation equipment.

  • Excavate for patios, driveways, walkways, retaining walls, drainage systems, and outdoor living projects.

  • Load and unload materials and equipment safely.

  • Grade and prepare job sites according to project specifications.

  • Assist with trenching, demolition, and site preparation.

Field Operations
  • Work alongside the excavation crew to complete projects efficiently.

  • Assist with hand labor when equipment operation is not required.

  • Help maintain a clean, organized, and safe job site.

  • Communicate effectively with the Foreman regarding daily production goals.

  • Follow all OSHA and company safety policies.

  • Help maintain company equipment by reporting maintenance needs promptly.

Qualifications
  • Valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with a clean driving record.

  • Experience operating dump trucks and equipment trailers.

  • Experience operating mini excavators and skid steers preferred.

  • Knowledge of excavation and grading practices is preferred.

  • Ability to safely back trailers and maneuver equipment in residential neighborhoods.

  • Ability to lift 75 pounds.

  • Comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions.

  • Strong work ethic with excellent attendance and reliability.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Schedule
  • Monday through Friday

  • Typical workday begins at 6:30 AM

  • Overtime available during the construction season as needed

Pay & Benefits
  • $24.00–$28.00 per hour, based on experience and qualifications
