Job summary

Strange Trip Inc. is hiring CDL Class A tractor-trailer drivers for local port operations in Southern California. You will run containers from the Ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach to warehouses and distribution centers while being home daily.

Qualifications

• CDL Class A license with minimum 2 years of verifiable tractor-trailer experience.
• Valid TWIC card and ability to haul containers to/from port and rail yards.
• Clean MVR and no criminal background; strong work ethic and professionalism.

Responsibilities

• Local port operations: haul containers from Ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach to warehouses and distribution centers across Southern California.
• Home daily; dispatch collaborates to maximize efficiency and earnings.
• Perform thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections and maintain equipment cleanliness.
• As operations expand under our own authority, opportunities to grow with the company will arise.

• Maintained under a strict and frequent preventative maintenance program - we operate only safe, well-maintained trucks.

• Port experience is a plus
• We're a family-owned, safety-oriented carrier running both for FedEx and under our own DOT authority.

Requirements

• CDL Class A License
• Minimum 2 years of verifiable tractor-trailer experience
• Must have some experience hauling containers to/from the port and rail yards
• Clean MVR and criminal background
• Strong work ethic, professionalism, and punctuality
• Commitment to customer service, safety, and equipment cleanliness
• Must perform thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections
• Valid TWIC card

Runs

• Our primary focus is local port operations, primarily hauling containers from the Ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach to warehouses, distribution centers, and customer locations throughout Southern California.
• This position is primarily intended for drivers seeking local work with the opportunity to be home daily.
• Dispatch is transparent and works closely with drivers to maximize efficiency, productivity, and earnings.
• As we expand operations under our own authority, we are continuously building relationships with brokers and shippers to develop consistent freight opportunities. Drivers who are flexible and team-oriented will have opportunities to grow with us and benefit from stronger lanes over time.

Compensation

• 33% of load revenue
• $150 monthly service and safety incentive
• Company pays for all fuel, tolls, maintenance, insurance, and truck costs
