Job summary

Greene County Schools is seeking a Custodian to maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming school environment. You will manage HVAC, perform routine cleaning, and handle minor maintenance with guidance from the Maintenance Department.

The role requires a High School Diploma or GED and a CDL Class B license with endorsement within 90 days. You will report to the Principal and Maintenance Coordinator.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• 3 must follow instructions and work without close supervision.
• CDL license required within 90 days of employment.

Responsibilities

• Keep building and grounds neat and clean at all times.
• Regulate heating and cooling to maintain comfort and control utility use.
• Shovel or treat entrances and walkways during ice/snow events as needed.
• Check exit doors and security systems; ensure doors and hardware work.
• Clean floors daily and as needed.
• Dust and wipe furniture regularly.
• Disinfect bathrooms daily and keep fixtures clean.
• Wipe drinking fountains; clean as directed by principal.
• Wash interior and exterior windows as needed.
• Maintain school property (grass, trimming, pest control).
• Report major repairs to principal and Maintenance Department.
• Schedule regular service for motorized equipment.
• Report any property damage or vandalism immediately.
• Open/close building as designated and complete daily task checklists.
• Maintain inventory of supplies and requisition items.
• Move furniture/equipment as directed by principal.
• Change air filters, bulbs, and ballasts monthly.
• Maintain OSHA/MSDS safety records and disposal procedures.
