Job summary

Versiti Blood Center of Ohio is seeking a Donor CDL Specialist to perform phlebotomy collections of whole blood and apheresis products. The role includes driving the mobile drive vehicle, delivering exceptional donor experiences, and promoting a collaborative team culture.

Must have a valid CDL and be able to work evenings, weekends, and holidays. Minimum qualifications include a High School Diploma or GED, and 1–3 years of people-facing experience.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Operate mobile drive buses with a valid CDL; transport staff, supplies, and equipment per DOT guidelines
• Prepare collection site and perform setup including technology systems
• Perform donor screening and phlebotomy
• Deliver exceptional donor experience through courteous, empathetic service and timely responses to inquiries
• Assist automation (Alyx and/or Trima) and recruit donors for automation
• Maintain equipment, recordkeeping, and routine maintenance as needed
• Rebook donors for future appointments
• Comply with regulatory and standard operating policies

Position Summary

Under direct supervision by department leadership, performs phlebotomy collection of whole blood and apheresis products. Interacts with donors and coordinators, providing a high level of customer service to deliver an excellent donation experience. Takes pride in and is committed to delivering high quality services. Works cooperatively and is a supportive member of the team/group. Contributes positively to the achievement of team objectives. Responsible for driving the mobile drive vehicle and transporting the mobile staff in a safe and efficient manner. In addition to these responsibilities, the Specialist, Donor CDL plays an essential role in promoting and maintaining a collaborative and respectful team culture and contributes to a strong and engaging employee experience. The individual models teamwork, effective communication, and professionalism and fosters an environment where donors and colleagues feel safe, valued, and respected.

The target salary is based on internal averages. Versiti sets salary ranges aligned to local markets in which the job is performed. Compensation decisions take into account internal salary averages and differentiation based on education, experience, skills, and performance. Responsibilities

• With a valid CDL, may operate mobile drive buses. Following all DOT guidelines, safely transports staff, supplies and equipment and arrives at site on time.
• Prepares collection site and performs set up, including technology systems (may include quality control).
• Performs donor screening (collects donor histories) and mini-physical and phlebotomy.
• Treats donors with customer service excellence, presenting a positive image. Responds to customer inquiries, requests, and complaints with a timely and complete response and escalates to leader when appropriate. Provides a service-centric donor experience by interacting with donors respectfully, compassionately, and professionally.
• May conduct automation (Alyx and/or Trima), including recognizing and responding to automation reactions. Recruits and converts donors for automation.
• Contributes to and uphold a positive team culture and employee experience by fostering teamwork, collaborating effectively, maintaining an encouraging environment, and by supporting coworkers through kind and respectful behaviors.
• Maintains product integrity and ensures proper identification of all donors, performs routine maintenance on equipment, and completes department records as needed. May prepare and pack units for transport.
• Observes donors for reactions, provides reaction care and assists other staff in handling reactions if needed.
• Rebooks donors for future donation appointments.
• May be subject to additional background checks as required by sponsor.
• Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties in this job classification
