Job summary

The City of Kingston is seeking a Motor Equipment Operator in the Department of Public Works to operate trucks and perform related manual tasks in snow removal, refuse and maintenance operations.

Requirements include a High School diploma or GED and a valid NYS Driver’s license; must hold a Class B CDL with air brakes and tanker endorsement, and be able to pass a DOT drug screen and road test. On-site, full-time work with competitive pay and benefits.

Qualifications

• Graduation from High School or possession of a High School Equivalency diploma and a valid New York State Driver’s license at time of application.
• Special Requirement: valid NYS Driver’s license Class B CDL with air brakes and a tanker endorsement.

Responsibilities

• Operates a truck removing snow, refuse and garbage, recycling and transports stone gravel and supplies.
• Operates a truck with snowplow or other attachments.
• Performs preventative maintenance on Department equipment.
• Performs manual labor such as loading trucks, digging ditches, cleaning culverts, mowing, trimming.
• May supervise a small group of laborers when required.
