Summary:

To safely transport and deliver explosive supplies (hazardous materials) to company job sites. Records deliveries and pickups on a load manifest, obtains necessary signatures, performs pre- and post-trip vehicle inspections, documents deficiencies, and ensures all safety items are in good working order. Maintains a neat, clean, professional appearance for vehicle and self. Daily activities include loading/unloading, driving, and paperwork.

Responsibilities:
  • Safely and timely transport of explosives supply using Class B vehicles; may utilize class C vehicles as needed.
  • Maintain accurate load manifests and vehicle documents, ensuring proper completion and balance with truck counts and shipping documents before and after deliveries.
  • Receive product at magazine sites and store properly in inventory.
  • Load product from magazine to appropriate distribution vehicle.
  • Unload product to ground crew at job site.
  • Ensure all loads and materials are properly secured.
  • Follow all DOT safety rules and regulations, including accurate log-book and safety check documentation.
  • Follow all state and local traffic laws.
  • Keep vehicle clean and maintain scheduled maintenance.
  • Communicate work status effectively to supervisor/dispatcher and cooperate to maximize truck utilization.
  • Represent the company professionally.
  • Report vehicle incidents, accidents, and traffic violations promptly.
  • Submit to federal DOT drug and alcohol testing.
  • Be flexible to start the day at any time based on schedule; notice provided by 5 pm the prior day.
  • Work independently, meet deadlines, adapt to changing priorities.
  • Participate in field operations meetings and training as needed.
  • Perform any other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Class B CDL license with Haz-mat and Tanker Endorsements, DOT medical card, and acceptable driving record.
  • Clean Motor Vehicle Record (MVR).
  • Experience with class B commercial driving preferred; trainees considered if holding appropriate license and acceptable MVR.
  • Ability to pass background investigation including ATF.
  • Solid understanding of federal DOT and state regulations regarding hazardous material transportation and interstate commerce.
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to perform essential functions of the position.
  • Lift 50-80 lbs.
  • Work outdoors in all weather conditions.
  • Work on uneven and loose surfaces.
  • Stooping and bending 30-40% of the time.
  • Overtime and out-of-town work may be required occasionally.
