Job summary

Performance Foodservice in Cedar Rapids, IA is seeking a delivery driver to service local routes from the Cedar Rapids Warehouse. Earn $22.50 per hour with an early morning start, Monday through Friday, and be home every night.

Responsibilities include safe, efficient product delivery, DOT compliance, and customer contact. Load/unload duties may require lifting up to 60 pounds; a valid driver record and good communication are essential.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED or equivalent experience.
• Good driving record with clean safety history.
• familiar with DOT regulations and safe driving practices.
• Ability to read, write and perform basic math calculations.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills.
• Ability to follow instructions and work independently.
• Ability to operate straight trucks and assistive devices.

Responsibilities

• Operates a straight truck to deliver product to customers.
• Maintains accurate driver logs, mileage, and fuel records.
• Serves as communications link between customers and operations.
• Unloads truck at delivery site, handling loads up to 60 pounds safely.
• May use liftgate, ramps, pallet jack, or handcart as needed.
• May operate an on-board computer to enter or access data.
• Keeps the truck in good operational condition through regular checks.
• Performs duties in compliance with policies and safety standards.

Position Purpose:

Food and food service delivery Drivers fulfill a critical role in the country’s food supply chain. Our delivery drivers not only make sure the customers’ products arrive at their destination at the arranged times and in good condition, but they are the face of our company – building lasting relationships with our customers!

Delivers product to customers in a professional, safe and efficient manner, while complying with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations. Provides a personal link to the customer by ensuring courteous customer service in handling customers\' questions or problems

Responsibilities may include, but not limited to:

• Operates a straight truck to deliver product to customers.
• Maintains accurate records required by state and/or federal regulations. This includes driver’s logs and mileage and fuel reports.
• Serves as vital communications link between customers and operations management to provide quality customer service. This may include discussing delivery times, explaining invoices or credit/billing procedures and responding to questions.
• Unloads truck at delivery site, which involves lifting product weighing up to 60 pounds, in a safe manner.
• May operate assistive equipment (liftgate, ramps, electric pallet jack, handcart).
• May operate an on-board computer to enter/access data.
• Maintains truck in good operational condition by inspecting it regularly.
• Complies with MDG’s health and safety programs.
• Delivers product to customer based upon standards developed by the location.
• May load product onto truck, which involves lifting cases of product weighing up to 60 pounds.
• Performs other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

• High School Diploma/GED or
• Equivalent Experience

• Good driving record.
• Familiarity with DOT regulations.
• Ability to operate straight trucks.
• Ability to read and write and perform basic mathematical calculations.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Ability to directly resolve, or initiate process of conflict resolution.
• Ability to operate assistive devices/product handling equipment.
• Ability to take and follow instructions.
• Ability to work 3-5 days per week with 10–15-hour shifts, which includes up to 10 hours of driving time (could be up to 60 hours on-duty time per week).

Compensation

• $22.50 per hour
