Job summary

FedEx is seeking a yard switcher to move trailers between the yard and loading/unloading doors. Preferred candidates may possess up to six months of related experience. A CDL Class A is required to operate interstate, with responsibilities including inspections and adherence to DOT

Qualifications

• CDL Class A required to operate in interstate commerce.
• Must have a valid driver’s license and maintain a DOT file.
• Ability to understand and follow instructions regarding work duties and safety methods.
• Ability to discern numbers and information to sort packages correctly.
• Experience with yard equipment is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Perform trailer switches moving a parked trailer from the yard to a load/unload door or from a door to the yard.
• Communicate with management and/or central control to coordinate trailer movements in the yard.
• Document trailer moves using the Yard Management System or switcher cards.
• Perform pre- and post-trip inspections on switcher equipment.
• Understand and follow yard switching safety processes and procedures.
• Perform other duties as assigned
