Job summary

Federal Express Corporation in the United States is seeking a Yard Switcher to move trailers between yards and doors, assist with hand loading/unloading, and support safe yard operations. You will coordinate trailer movements, log actions, and perform pre/post-trip inspections on equipment.

Qualifications

• Must have a valid driver’s license and maintain a DOT file.
• CDL Class A is required to operate in interstate commerce.
• Ability to understand and follow instruction regarding work duties and safety methods.
• Ability to sort packages accurately by reading numbers and labels.
• Ability to use basic hand tools and equipment such as skate wheel rollers, dock carts, hand-held scanners, chutes and unloading devices.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills; able to work in a fast-paced team.

Responsibilities

• Performs trailer switches moving parked trailers to/from doors.
• Coordinates trailer movements with management/central control.
• Documents trailer moves using Yard Management System or switcher cards.
• Performs pre- and post-trip inspections on switcher equipment.
• Maintains safety procedures in yard operations.
